Wise Transfers Successful

There have been a number of issues reported regarding the time taken to complete Wise transfers to Thailand.

Last Friday I transfered 5,000 baht directly from my UK Wise account to Krung Thai bank, it took 9 seconds to complete.

Today, Monday, I transfered 4,000 baht to the same Krung Rhai account, again complete in 9 seconds. I also transfered 18,500 baht to a Krung Sri  (yellow) Bank account which akso conpleted in 9 seconds.

Having read of so many problems regardibg Wise transfers to Thailand recently, I am happy to report this excellent service from  Wise

The bank holiday did not affect the deposit of my transfers in the two Thai accounts.

You know that they don't actually transfer the Thai baht from the UK to Thailand, right? The funds are transferred from their local Thai partner bank using the Thai instant transfer system. So Wise aren't actually doing very much at all except running script via an API.

So if your transaction is simple, eg. sending chump change instead of hundreds of thousands of baht, and their "float" at their partner bank(s) is sufficient then you should expect no issues because it is all automated.

But I've read a few reports of issues with small transfers, few thousand

Also made 2 transfers in the last week from Wise UK to Kasikorn. 20,000 each time. First took 3 hours, second 7 seconds. The problems seem unpredictable but perhaps more frequent if a US bank is involved and/or destination is Bangkok bank.

Money I've moved the last few days have all been instantaneous, but I note the banking partner is Kasikorn Bank once again not Tranglo. Whilst I've not had any problems with transfers via Tranglo they're usually flagged as expected to take 18 minutes and they do take several minutes (not that I'm complaining), whilst Kasikorn is flagged as transfer "in seconds" and it is.

Transferred money from UK this morning at 6.15am , usually takes seconds. Today 6 hours with no reason why 🙄 🫩.

The issue is with Bangkok Bank transfers, I set a transfer on Saturday from my U.K. bank only 10000 baht, it won’t be in my account till today Wednesday, in the past it only took seconds,

Perhaps it could be due to Monday being a bridge national holiday (banks closed) and Tuesday is the Queen's birthday. A national holiday (banks also closed).

My monthly transfer to Bangkok Bank ("for long term stay") just been credited at 14:04 and shown as international funds transfer.

Initiated yesterday.

Business as usual.

I send some 65k + x Baht for the monthly transfer method for extension.

(1800 EUR -> 66470.75 THB)

I have used Wise for several years and my experience has been very positive.

I can only recall 1 transfer going awry but it was successfully concluded within 3 or 4 days.

99% of my transfers arrive in seconds but last week I did have 2 that were not processed for several hours.

Of course the Wise caveat stating that the receiving bank may not credit your account immediately the money is given to them, applies.

In neither case was it a inconvenience to me and I will continue to use them as my preferred money transfer service provider.

I'll echo this with what I have experience.

Prior to about a month ago, my Wise transfers from USA bank to Bangkok Bank would occur within seconds.  If I was transferring over 30K baht then it might take a few hours or in extreme cases the next day.

Within the past month I've been struggling with transfer having them range from a few hours to a few days.  My most recent transfer of 15K was sent last Thursday and didn't arrive until today.  Absolutely absurd

Tried the same transfer with my Wife's SCB bank and it was 18 minutes.

Not sure whats happening or whats causing this but seems like we went backwards a few yers with this

I have not tried a transfer via Wise since three failed attempts two weeks ago for small amounts to a Krung Thai account. This was said to have been rejection by the KTB system not a failure by Wise. My money was promptly refunded.

In view of the positive post above, I shall try again. Thanks.

9 seconds is truly exceptional and amazing.

My transfers have lately been within an hour. They'd probably be faster if the funds were already on account at Wise rather than awaiting a wire transfer from Citibank, still.

Often I receive a notification from K-Bank that the funds have been received and are available even before Wise itself updates the app as having received funds let alone dispatched tgem.

To other countries, typically for me, Bangladesh, funds are available there the following evening, which is still amazing as in the bad old days wire transfers from Citi would take up to 2 weeks, entirely in limbo with absolutely no tracking and a terrible FOREX rate.

My last two transfers using wise to Bangkok Bank from Uk have taken 3 days and the last one 4.5 days which was set up last Friday and the money arrived today Wednesday afternoon. Never happened before it’s usually been completed in seconds?

I have a monthly payment set up with wise to pay my rent. This month it was bounced by the recipients bank. Made a second attempt, again bounced back to me. Wise kept me fully updated.

Contacted the recipient and established that she had changed her first name on her bank account without advising me. I changed her details with Wise, submitted the payment again, went through with no more issues.

apart from this incident, never had a problem with Wise in 3 years

I did the same, not realising that Sat & Sun were weekends, and Mon & Tue were Bank holidays, when Bkk Bank shuts its computers down to save lekky. Arrived 14.03 today.

Just did a GBP to AED in Dubai, 10 seconds.

Bank Holidays nor W.E. affected my transfers before, bank computers don’t know when it’s a Bank Holiday or a W.E.

I sent 100,000 baht to my Kasikorn bank account today.  It took 3 seconds.

The issue appears to be with Bangkok Bank only, my transfers to Krungsri go through in seconds, Bangkok Bank transfers are taking days.

Its been interesting following all these topics regarding Wise over the last year. As a Wise account holder for 3 years, I have never had a problem . Hoping it stays that way. Regarding today's read. it as started off as low amount and the above comment a large amount.

Last friday i sent a large amount over 200,000 plus and it stated it would arrive in my bank (scb) in 18 minutes. i had a message from scb money in the bank within 20 seconds of sending. Hope the good service carries on for me.

I have sent in the last 12 months amounts between 4k and 600k from Wise to BKK Bank.

There was never a issue. And if I have to wait up to 24 hours - so what.

I am happy with Wise. In total I have transferred over 4 million BHT from WISE to BKK Bank. No complaints at all.

You are a lucky man.

I knew about the weekend and the 2 bank holidays, but my transfer did not arrive until 14:04. A whole minute later than normal.

Do you think I should complain to Wise or BKK bank about the 1 minute extra delay.
