In a dramatic turn of events, a 38-year-old Chinese national suspected of fraud remains on the run after a daring escape from Pattaya police station. Li Jian evaded custody by leaping from a second-floor window while officers were momentarily distracted during his questioning.

Li was initially detained by immigration police at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok. He was attempting to board a flight to Da Nang, Vietnam, when Pol Maj Gen Choengron Rimpadee of Immigration Division 2 apprehended him. His arrest followed a complaint lodged by a fellow Chinese citizen, leading to an arrest warrant issued by the Pattaya provincial court.

Investigations revealed that Li and the complainant were acquaintances. Li had allegedly proposed a currency exchange deal, offering Chinese yuan in return for 38,712.77 USDT (a Tether cryptocurrency), valued at about 1.26 million baht. However, Li never delivered the yuan, prompting his friend to seek police intervention.

After his arrest at the airport, Li was handed over to Pattaya City police station. It was during interrogation on the building's second floor that Li exploited the officers' brief distraction to make his escape through a window, despite reportedly injuring himself in the fall. He has since evaded capture, and authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend him.

I wonder what caused the distraction?  In this land of inept police forces, is there one more useless than Pattaya Plod?

I have to believe that the police must have been momentarily  distracted by the sound of several large bundles of baht hitting the floor...

"Ohh!!!  Look....!!"

Fraud suspects seem to be rather  good at escaping police capture.

Excuse me I'm just going to the rest room... BRB 5 minutes.

The Major General who personally apprehended the suspect will not be pleased.

Like a heavy ?safe or something.?

If he is smart (which is doubtful) he will make a land run to cross the border to escape Thailand. Crossing the river. If he is smart he will already be gone.

If it was me, I would have made a beeline to the nearest crossing out of the country.

But since they already have been unable to catch him even with all their resources right there at the police station. And apparently noone gave chase seeing the man jump from the window and injuring himself in the process. Perhaps there is more to the untold story about police involvement in this incident.
