In a disturbing incident in Thailand's central province of Pathum Thani, a schoolboy has been accused of using artificial intelligence (AI) to generate and disseminate nude images of his female classmates. The case has prompted legal action and raised concerns about digital ethics and safety in schools.

On June 5, 20 schoolgirls accompanied by their parents reported the issue to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau. They discovered explicit images of themselves on social media, which they never posed for. The suspect allegedly created these images by superimposing the girls' faces onto nude photos using AI technology. In some cases, the suspect even edited their faces onto explicit videos.

The victims claim that the boy also subjected them to both physical and verbal sexual harassment. Despite their repeated requests for him to stop, he allegedly continued and even sent threats to those considering legal action against him.

A parent informed the media that upon learning about the matter from her daughter, she collected relevant evidence and submitted it to the school's director. Following this, the school committee summoned the boy for questioning. During the inquiry, he admitted to creating the images and videos but claimed it was done for amusement rather than profit. He purportedly had been engaging in this behaviour for about a year.

Despite his father's willingness to let legal processes unfold, the boy showed no sign of remorse, continuing his activities even after the school became aware of the issue.

Concern persists that there may be more victims who have yet to come forward, fearing the repercussions of doing so. Cyber police have clarified that the creation and sharing of such explicit content violate the country's Computer Act. However, given the suspect's status as a minor, the investigation involves a multidisciplinary team to ensure appropriate handling of the situation.

This case highlights the urgent need for discussions around digital safety, particularly in educational settings, and the importance of holding individuals accountable for actions that exploit technology to harm others.

Evil practice. Never innocent.

One of the  world's most  notorious deep fake nude websites  was shut down following a combined Danish and Canadian journalist investigation from  CBC, Bellingcat, Politiken, and Tjekdet. Oh color me SHOCKED  :shock1:  I probably was checking out "the pink" in Hustler at his age. But to be honest.  A certain "family" social media sight showers me with pictures of Asian Uni Vollyball gals wearing "camel-toe" tight short-shorts. I don't ever click on them and they keep showing up.  Not sure why the kid needs to AI draw nudes.  He can just log into his favorite social media site and they'll do it for him.

Good luck shutting down popular AI sites. You gotta give the kid credit.  I wouldn't have even thought of that.  But don't have to as social media giants shower me with soft porn.  Trust me, I don't want it.  This is a site where I share pictures of pets and dinner and keep in contact with family and friends.  And yet only about 5% of the cr*p on my feed had anything to do with my family and friends.  I just keep getting a ton of stuff I really don't care about.

His skills are "amazing" but going into the wrong direction.

The current danger of using AI for sinister reasons is quite obvious. And not stoppable without regulations.

Lets see if he finds being prosecuted in a court of law amusing.

IMHO, this to me is a case where the parents of the child should be charged for the crime.  The school was informed of the crime, the govt has been informed of the crime yet this "criminal" continues doing the same thing.  Make his parents pay or spend time in jail and maybe they then will correct him in his crimes!

Which indicates to me that his parents have totally failed.

He's underage too.

Knowing right from wrong fizzled out as a societal morality yardstick a long time ago, and definitely can't be applied to GenZ and up.

What people really need to be worrying about is AI.

If people keep pushing and promoting this then it is no longer far fetched to think it will all end badly as in several Sci Fi movies along these lines.

I'm actually surprised we don't hear of this happening more often.  Whenever I see an advert for an AI app that makes people from two photos come to life and kiss each other, I think surely kids are going to use that to make photos of their friends or teachers kiss.

One sided story so far. Be careful swinging the axe.

The tip of the AI iceberg.

Many famous women have been "nude faked" and the pictures posted online. Bad enough for adults, but think of how this could psychologically affect some of these schoolgirls.

There are even AI scam ads on Youtube using famous faces to draw people into their dodgy deals. Deep fake photos and videos are everywhere.

School kids are using it for all sorts of things nowadays. Including homework, essays etc. As AI improves and gets more powerful, schools will have an uphill battle trying to distinguish the cheats from the studious.

Scary stuff.

I am not sure what you mean as there can only be one sided against the kid producing the photos/videos and still doing it and showing no remorse.

A student's hoax to "surprise" his fellow students?
An extremely smart kiddo showing off his skills yet the shot backfired?

A sicko who needs professional help or get isolated?

Let those experts find out; taking the boy's parents into the equation might help?

Possibly a missed point here? Have the parents been encouraging his computer studies, but maybe not aware of his advancement into AI development? All kids are curious animals, so think back to your own childhood. Did you tell your parents everything, and especially about your becoming aware of the opposite sex? Kids here today are at the stage I was perhaps 70 years ago, there are some things you just don't talk about, even among friends.

Not only that, the little shyster was roughing them up too by the sounds. Bang him up in juvie and get him on a register if there is such a thing here. Nasty piece of work.

The tip of the iceberg indeed.  We are super early in AI development and the rate of progress, if it continues at this pace, will make it impossible to tell reality from fiction if it is not that way already.   Can only imagine what it will be like in 5 or 10 years time but it looks like OnlyFans careers are on the chopping block too.   This fake AI model is making 10000 euros a month as an example.

How is this a "disturbing" incident? The images are not real. It's FAKE. It's not like he forced the girls to do the acts depicted in the FAKE photos.

Again, these are FAKE images. Not real.

Are we going to send people to prison for fantasy and FAKE images now?

Do me favour.

I agree with you... for the most part.  But look at it this way.  In many of the European countries and the UK they're throwing people into court and fining them big time for 'hate' speech (and the judge is the determining person).  It's a wacky world now.

Except thats not porn and in classic AI fashion, it still can't get the hands quite right.
This kid might have photo chopped the pic but he didn't create porn from AI.
The only AI programs that can/will do this are pay to play. This kid didn't do that.

Of course I could be wrong but I doubt it
