Chaos in Pattaya as British Man Attempts to End Life by Running into Traffic

A dramatic scene unfolded in central Pattaya on the afternoon of 23 June, during a bout of heavy rain, as a British man, who was not named by authorities, reportedly attempted to end his life by running barefoot into moving traffic.

The incident occurred on Second Road, near Soi 11, where the man was seen behaving erratically and deliberately dashing in front of vehicles, apparently hoping to be struck. Fortunately, traffic was congested at the time and moving slowly, preventing any injuries or collisions.

Local police from Pattaya City Police Station, assisted by vigilant bystanders, quickly intervened to prevent any injuries. Officers found the man appearing highly intoxicated, speaking incoherently and engaging in bizarre behaviour, including rain drinking water from a roadside drain and splashing it onto his face and body.

It took police around 15 minutes to calm the man and take him into custody. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for psychological assessment.

Authorities say they are working with the British Embassy and relevant agencies to provide appropriate care and support for the individual.

No injuries were reported, and police praised the action of passers-by and first responders in preventing potential harm.

We're seeing 2 or 3 articles everyday now about foreigners in Thailand with mental health issues.

People with mental problems should NOT travel to Thailand. Its a country with alot of problems about almost everything.

I have to watch day 5 of the first test match against India, that may have something to do with his behaviour, seen that before.

All he had to do was try to cross the road on a zebra crossing.

Can only thank heavens that he was barefoot rather than bare assed!

Poor chap; hope he is well taken care of.

With the assisted dying bill passed in Parliament, he could just have waited till he got home.

And a plane journey home.

They do it again and again.

They need to be mentioned in a headline. Not less. Thumbs up🥳

Jumping into slow moving traffic, seems more like a cry for help rather than a suicide mission.

That is just the ones reported in the press.

Most villages have at least one.

I do have empathy for this guy.  Feel bad for him.  I can see this scenario.   Hurt, can't work, money runs out, no support group, drinking, frustration, anxiety, depression.    I don't have a support group, and anxiety has ramped up at times, but I'm OK with the rest.  I still would talk to my Embassy, go back home, try to work, and keep giving it a go until I just knew it was hopeless.  Then I think I would try to live on a trail in the wilderness.  That would work for like a few days.  lol.  Miserable, for sure.   Maybe try being a monk.  Yes, lots of options before the final plunge.  The problem with running in traffic is you are affecting others.  What if a family of nine hits and kills you.  Now these kids have to deal with that mentally.  That's terrible.  Don't do that.  Let's hope this guy is just crying out for help and gets the help he needs.

Hope this wasn't Bob. I would miss his posts by whatever name he is using at the moment.

That, he most certainly won't get from a UK embassy...

He should used a Zebra crossing if he wanted to get hit by a car.

Sounds like Crystal meth+alcohol+depression. His behaviour suggests that he should not be travelling, and should be under care/supervision in his home country.

If they do you cant blame the families

No respect for tradition.

The traditional method for ending it all in Pattaya is a rapid descent to earth initiated from an upper floor balcony.

But seriously, sympathy for the guy what ever his story.

This was a popular method for many years.

Mike shopping mall had a roof top swimming pool, it was closed because of what you described.

Many lives saved

Look at the gut on the guy. He's a carb addict, not a tweaker.
