Thais also buy and smoke dope and have been for a very long time. The difference of late is that they didn't have to get it through criminal channels. This is what it will now go back to. Do you think this is a positive thing? People will continue to smoke dope. This cannot be stopped.

Totally agree with you.  All this will do is generate illegal corrupt money flows.   Criminalising people who are mostly do not usually commit crime.

Oh , it's no different to amending road traffic laws .Bt 2000 for not wearing a helmet, only enforced in major city centres or tourist areas. Very few cannabis shops outside of those areas and Thais will "go back to " what they've always done...just like riding their motorcycles illegally.

Powers that be love to make declarations about how they are making Thailand a good place to invest.... but this slitting of the economic throats of tens of thousands of budding (pun intended) business people sends the message these people are clueless, ignorant, fools that can't be counted on. A prime motivator of investors is knowing their money will be in a consistent environment, not subject to capricious moves by morons in ruling class

You are of course entitled to your opinion albeit an ignorant one.

You are a stoner ?

What's a stoner? Someone that smokes dope? Is this like saying anyone who drinks alcohol is a alcholic?

What’s a benzo addict called?  Worst addiction imaginable.   And Xanax is the bad boy of the bunch.

Whereas tobacco is bad bad bad and you can buy that S everywhere

But it doesn’t make people crazier than they already are. And we can also wave goodbye to the bunch of weirdos who come rushing in. Not a bad scenario.

My mother brought me up better than to be one of those types.

The problem is that the Government legalized the cannabis a few years back, and now suddenly they want to turn it back. All businesses can't operate if what today is allowed tomorrow it is forbidden.. The Government must accept that they made a mistake first by too quickly legalize it and now to criminalize it again.. Make good regulation about how much the shops are allowed to have in stock, to who they can sell and how much and control that strictly.. instead of only medical use, and all that kind of stuff they want to do now.. Everybody knows it will not work.and in the meantime legalize the vaping too with similar regulations instead of pretending to forbid it.. too many people are vaping already, you can't turn back time

Oh, and why shouldn't it be possible, in your own country gambling was initially allowed too, but as more gambling addicts came in, the rules were tightened considerably, don't see why it couldn't be done here.
Or is desire the father of the thought.

Thailand's cannabis industry is facing a seismic shift as new regulations threaten to shut down around 12,000 cannabis flower shops.

They can continue to sell to prescription patients... just not Joe Bloggs who walks in off the street.

This is ridiculous. An outrage to put so many businesspeople out of business. Is the economy that good that they can walk away from that much tax revenue?

My bet is it never comes to pass.

What the industry needs is strickter regulation, not a shutdown.

This is about cannabis not gambling something totally different... Do you know how it is working in the Netherlands with the cannabis or not?

Stoners are dead <deleted>s... end of.

Well if you believe that, and I certainly do not, then everyone who's ever smoked a cigarette or taken an alcoholic drink must also be a "dead whatever"

Your comment is self-righteous and ignorant....but then that's only my opinion  - what do i know, I like a few beers so I must also be a "dead whatever" by your fairly low standards.

I think these wishy-washy policies (of the Thai government) will only put off many foreign investors in the future.  You reap what you sow.

We could certainly use some more Indian Restaurants, 7-11s, and massage shops in Pattaya...

Yeah, and there's bad need for more shops selling the same suitcases, and more Indian tailor shops.

At least decent tourists will be able to visit Thailand again

Really? Can't remember last time I saw a "decent" tourist in Thailand. Of course, your definition might differ from mine.

And for the record, I'd much rather encounter a stoner shuffling along minding his own business than a p!sshead in a wife beater spoiling for a fight.

Yes, in my former homeland I know, that's bad enough, which is why I am glad it is going to be banned here again, they have learnt their lesson.

yet you openly admit to using xanax to help you sleep on a flight, thats recreational in my opinion,so your mother , no doubt single-handedly, has raised a hypocrite,

Well, given your avatar, you won't fall under the decent tourists category.
