Will it happen?

What are the chances now with the "Big beautiful bill"?

Is a new major party overdue and will it be able to "unite" the US again?

No doubt about it,something big is brewing over there.

Elon seems to be holding a grudge and Trump is sure to react some how.

Thoughts?

I was searching for Elon everywhere, am so happy that he resurfaced.

Was looking for him in South Sudan, Libya, Djibouti, Alligator Alcatraz.

Elon is a US citizen. But you are correct that he can't run for president.

There's no doubt that a new party is needed and required, both the Democratic and the Republican Party are completely broken, completely corrupt, and nearly useless when it comes to improving the lives of the American people.

And while they're at it they should abolished the Electoral College. I realize I'm dreaming, the status quo will likely continue for a long time to come.

If we are not going to have representative government, why not eliminate the Senate and House as well?

Just vote on everything

Well, I would make an argument that the Senate and the House are nearly useless too, certainly they're corrupt and highly unpopular.

I don't know what getting rid of the electoral college has to do with having representative government, nor what the connection is to a third party. I've always felt that the popular vote was the epitome of representative government.

What does the Constitution say about democracy?

I think the best thing we could do is repeal the 17th Amendment.

Term limits would really help, all most of these politicians care about is getting re-elected. But sadly, that won't happen either.

That would still cause incessant fighting.

51 per cent pro abortion, 49 per against.

Then endless hostility that the other side are complete uneducated morons that shouldnt be allowed to vote.

"Democracy" is not a perfect system. There is no perfect system.

It’s not an argument I am making.

I'm not a constitutional scholar so it's difficult for me to weigh in on whether or not the 17th Amendment still makes sense in this day and age, but it was the only amendment that was added after the Constitution was written. I don't think this has any bearing on the Electoral College which I think is outdated and not only useless but has tipped quite a few elections when the popular vote would have decided otherwise.

Do you believe the rights of the minority should be protected?

20 years ago people from BOTH sides of the aisle would have been appalled at the thought of threats of "primarying" a politician by the wealthiest in the world because they didn't vote as they were told instead of listening to their constituents.

This is what the US has become. Frogs in a pot and the water is about to come to a full boil.

Yes, maga authoritarianism is winning bigly.

From shining city on a hill to another case study on how democracies die.

Musk is an American. You seem to have birth place confused with being an American.

The left has been voting lock-step for at least the last 20 years. Why do you suppose that is?

Notice the left has been trying to take out Fetterman, how funny is that?

You're joking right, or not an American?
Surely you should know at least the first two amendments?
1st Amendment - Free Speech
2nd Amendment - Right to bear arms

The 17th is called the 17th for a reason, 16 amendments came before it, all after the constitution was written. :giggle:

One would assume that if Musk puts enough effort into this new party will damage MAGA, hopefully enough that they will not get into power. The downside is the circuitous route correcting all the policy errors under Trump at great cost and effort.

This should resonate with different meanings in Thailand and the US as far as Elon's H1B Party goes.

What happens to MAGA when Trump croaks? Its a personality cult, and his sons, all of them, have no personality. Vance lacks charisma. MTG?

MTG too much of a nutcase, maybe Trump Jnr who appears to believe he's wonderful and echo;s his father thoughts.
