Only an international school here gives children what they need to get a decent job, and that job would pay much more in the west. The average school here teaches very little besides the language, and this is also coming from a friend who owns an English school  near where I live, a 70 year old Thai man taught in the US.

And again, this happens all over the world, daily, and many times around resort areas and places where homes should not have been built. And again, the problem there is that many of these places aren't just resort areas but farming areas, which are necessary. Climate change is hurting many all over, and will continue to do so until people who have pull get changes done. Many are in denial thinking it isn't happening but there are always a lot of sheep that will take other's opinions as fact. Those camps were only affected twice by this kind of catastrophe in those 100 years, although flooding happens yearly somewhere in Texas, along with hundreds of areas worldwide.

Of course many disagree with facts, as that's where opinions come in.

 

Yes, desire is the main thing that has students excelling, but good teachers are needed to teach those students, and the better the teacher, they better students learn.

 

Thailand does not have good teachers in many of these schools, and I see this daily not only here but talking to teachers and school owners who are involved in this. A good student needs to be taught the basics well in grammar and high schools, and it pales by comparison here. The more knowledge a student has going into college the better they're prepared for the harder courses. Western schools are better than any schools here, and as good or better then international ones.

Why not bother to look at a video of the campsite? They're easily available. The camp was on a wide flood plain. This time of year is usually past the heavy storm season. Personally, I never camp near rivers, precisely because of this danger. But had I or anyone else been camping on "higher ground" the 30ft high wall of water would still have got me.
