A Chinese tourist has reported being robbed of 8,000 baht after spending the night with a woman he met outside a Pattaya beer bar.

Mr He Jiangpeng, 38, filed a complaint with Pol Sub Lt Kittipong Thaelangkan of Pattaya City Police Station on the evening of 6 August, stating that he had brought a woman back to his hotel room after meeting her outside a bar in the side alley off Soi 6, Pattaya Beach Road.

Speaking through a translator, Mr He told police that he had struck up a conversation with the woman and after hitting it off, the pair decided to continue the evening together before heading back to his rented room in a unnamed beachside accommodation.

He said he did awake until the next evening to find the woman gone and only realised the theft had occurred when he checked his belongings and discovered 8,000 baht in cash was missing. He said he strongly suspected the woman he had spent the night with had taken the money before leaving without saying goodbye.

Police have launched an investigation. Pol Sub Lt Kittipong confirmed that Mr He had been interviewed in detail and the case had been passed to Pattaya Police Chief Pol Col Anek Srathongyu. Investigators have been assigned to track down the woman involved to question her and ensure all parties receive fair treatment.
