Police in Pattaya are hunting two Chinese men after a Thai woman was allegedly bound, threatened at gunpoint and held captive in her home in the early hours of the morning.

At around 03.05 on 22 August, Pol Col Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a hostage incident at house number 413/25 in Suphamit Village, Soi Bongkot, Pattaya. He immediately dispatched patrol and investigative units to the scene.

The house, described as a two-storey pool villa, was where officers found a Thai woman, who has not been named, aged between 30 and 40, visibly shaken. She told police that two Chinese men had stormed into the property, threatened her with a firearm, tied her hands with cable ties and locked her inside a bedroom while waiting for her Chinese husband to return.

The victim managed to free herself and fled to seek help from neighbours, who then alerted the police.

As officers arrived, one of the suspects attempted to escape in a white Toyota car. In his bid to flee, he rammed a police motorcycle and a parked civilian vehicle, causing damage, before leading police on a high-speed chase for more than 20 kilometres. He ultimately evaded capture in the Huay Yai area near Thara Resort.

Neighbours confirmed to police that the victim had run to them in distress, claiming she had been tied up by two Chinese nationals who were apparently planning to demand a ransom and ambush her husband.

Pol Col Anek said both the Thai woman and her Chinese husband have been taken in for questioning as investigators consider possible motives, including debts, personal disputes or business conflicts.

“During the incident, the suspects reportedly told the wife not to be afraid, saying everything would be resolved once her husband returned. This suggests their actions may not have been solely financially motivated,” the superintendent explained.

Detectives are now examining CCTV footage and working to track down the suspects.

Chinese Gang Escapes After Failed Kidnapping in Pattaya

A group of Chinese nationals attempted to kidnap a compatriot for ransom at a villa in central Pattaya early on the morning of 22 August, but fled after a Thai woman managed to escape and alert police.

The incident occurred at around 03:00 at a two-storey pool villa in Suphamit Village, Pattaya.

Pol Lt Col Anek Sarathongyu, superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, said officers were dispatched after receiving reports of a violent dispute and possible abduction.

When patrol and investigation teams arrived, they found a white saloon car parked outside the property. On spotting the officers, the suspects accelerated, ramming into a civilian vehicle and a police motorcycle, which was knocked to the ground, before speeding away in the direction of Huai Yai.

Neighbours reported seeing two men inside the car moments before a Thai woman ran screaming from the villa. She had allegedly been detained inside, apparently as part of a ransom attempt, but she managed to break free and raise the alarm.

Police investigators are now reviewing CCTV footage along the suspects’ escape route. The Chinese couple who own the property are also being questioned as officers seek to determine the motive and identify the wider network behind the plot.

Authorities have not yet released further details while the investigation continues and the suspects remain at large.

Yes, and they are far more sinister  than the Brits who are frequently complained of.

I believe Malaysia is having similar issues with their newly visa exempt tourists.

all of whom allowed the criminals to escape!  Does Pattaya have the most inept force in all Thailand?

They've never experienced these type of criminals, ones that won't give up, and will fight to the death. Sort of like the southern insurgency.

This situation smells so fishy to me. Nevertheless, Thai logic .. if Mr Chinaman wasn't in Thailand this wouldn't have happened.

This is all very solvable. Reduce the Chinese adult males to two weeks a year, must apply via some screening process. Two trips max 30 days per year.

Thai have only their own corruption to blame. They look around like wuh wuh huh me??

Guaranteed, similar story next week. Stay tuned.

It's not inept it's corrupt. The cops are there not in public interest but to further their own finances.

At this very moment the Chinese are free lol. After bashing cops bike too. Keystone cops 🤡🤡

Not necessarily mafia, maybe just a couple of armed Chinese thugs

Chinese triads are a different breed … Singapore and Malaysia have to use internal security detention - without trial - to control them …HK police have to use moles to catch them ….  China have to use death penalty and constant surveillance to control them, …. just think about how inept, slow and totally untrained the Thai police will be against Chinese triads… 🤣😎🤔 it will be. Breeze for Chinese triads in Thailand 🤭

My friends were out last night until 3am, an English friend from HK, a Korean friend from Busan, a Black Canadian friend and an American friend.
I'm pretty sure none of them are involved in drugs or scams of any kind.

Staying out late isn't a crime, nor a sign that someone is a criminal.  It's just a sign that they like going out and having fun until the early hours of the morning.

When I was a drinker and party guy, we would sometimes stay out until 7am or even into the next afternoon.  There were clubs in HK that were open almost 24 hours and were awesome fun!

probably ......   it was close to clock out time ..  and had to get back to the station

Is  there nothing the Chinese will mess up? Not even a simple kidnapping in Thailand can be done competently. So much for Chinese mafia.

If you want the job done right you send the Russians. Anyone knows that.
