You think you are mocking Democrats, by showing pics of the Trump voting base.  Sad!

Those were Democrats.  All are welfare recipients.

You could of been a man instead of a beta leftist and answer me directly.

It's not just Thailand.  Postal services that have suspended or restricted their services to the US include, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand.  More will likely follow suit.

No problem.

Trump's decision to remove the de minimis threshold, which allowed low-value imports into the US duty-free, has caused logistical chaos. This exemption, previously set at approximately 28,649 Thai Baht ($800) daily per person, enabled the smooth import of small packages.

I have bought several items from the US over the years and they all were hit with import duty and tax in Thailand, all the items had a value less than 10kbaht

Just checked their website. Courier is the only option available for the US. What a joke.

seems Trumps plan is working - right ?

Last time I was in China, I noticed Walmart stores. No tariffs & everything is 'Made in USA'.

Can tariffs (taxes) imposed on American importers really allow them to increase wages? Do Americans honestly believe Trump’s claim that tariffs are paid by the exporters? In reality, the U.S. government is collecting huge sums in tariffs from Americans and then handing some of it back in the form of tax cuts—mainly benefiting billionaires and high earners.

The idea that the U.S. must balance imports and exports by country makes no sense to any serious economist. Imposing high tariffs on poorer nations simply because they don’t buy American cars or tech products is misguided. The truth is, the U.S. benefits enormously from being able to import low-cost goods made in countries where workers earn just $5 a day or not much more.

So ask yourself—who’s really doing the exploiting here? Those workers earning $5–10 a day won’t be buying an American car anytime soon.

It's absurd on many levels. I had to send a FBAR (declaration of foreign bank accounts) earlier this year and I filed US taxes. I don't think dead people do that.  Also, when an American dies in Thailand, the embassy is notified right away.  In other words, it's not even necessary. If he wants to save money, stop the program or make it online.

Mailing is the only option. They did have a fax option, but stopped that so they could get an original with real ink in the signature.

I only have two complaints about the system I have to work with.

First, I'd like to synchronize these two pensions (one from the state, one from the corporations I worked for), and use the same Proof of Life for both. Despite email and chat conversations, and talking on the phone with a real life person, it wasn't possible. But ok.

Second, I used to get the Proof of Life documents by mail, and sometimes it just never arrived. This is Thailand after all.

So now I get everything through the internet.

Small complaints, I'm quite happy with how these 'bureaucracies' work.

WTF? Thai Post ships to the EU which hits everything with VAT and duty. No issues. Why can't they do the same with the US?

Because Trump has imposed Tariffs of 36% I believe, on all goods coming in to the US. That's in addition to any duty or taxes.

It has nothing to do with US De Minimis cancelation

Correct. It is about privatizing the mail into DeJoys company.

I think it's great. Any inconvenience resulting from the USA's tariffs is welcome. I am not American but loathe Trump and wish his supporters the worst.

As of this moment Thailand is not the only one suspending service - Australia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Ireland, United Kingdom, Malta and others.

Our company's Canadian office still has packages stuck in the never ending game of courier customs fees from the last rounds which got TACO'd.
So we suspended all shipping there since. There can be so business certainty when everything rests on the whims of an old man shaking his fist at sky , posting decrees on X, and pretending it was the 80's.

The OP mentions suspension of parcel service, but Thailand Post's announcement was that all mail services to the US are suspended.

Has Thailand Post changed its position with respect to letters, or is the article incorrect?

Oh good, maybe Thailand will be forced to drop their ridiculous custom fees for inbound packing.

Is this not aimed at slowing all the cheap chinese junk imports that's flooding the USA ?

Trump is way off the deep end with his trade war.  Nothing will be gained from this and Americans will be harmed. Here's a real world example. Last year I bought this pair of headphones for $80. I'm back in the US now and wanted to buy another pair and the price has jumped to $109.  The only winners here are the government sector and taxes they will collect.

And you couldn't get that cheaper in the US (Amazon)? JBL is American.

It has to do in so far that the registered letter is treated like a "parcel", thus noted on the receipt and faces the same delay, even if the content has zero value. I just wanted to point out that it's not only parcels.

All the Americans who voted for Trump at least get to show their gratitude by paying a nice extra lump of cash for their imports

Must be so nice to show how much you appreciate the wonderful man.

Bit like going to the temple/church and giving a donation after the service

Kind of silly.  It doesn't affect the people sending packages from Thailand.  It is the people receiving the packages that will have to pay the fee.

Because nobody knows who's paying what. That's why many are postponing , UK, NL, DHL and many more.

Yes, Australia Post has done the same. They do not want to be left paying the tariff or the cost of returning the items.

There is no importer involved here.  These are mailed direct from foreign countries, and no tax of any kind is collected in the US.

Who in the hell still uses snail mail?  Especially from Thailand to the USA.

Probably the same people who write checks.

Ahh! US expats on SS who have to return proof of life forms is just one example. Anyway snail mail is not affected.

Because the EU did not declare economic war upon Thailand and the rest of the world.

The EU did not declare its utter contempt for Thailand and the rest of the world.

The US has sown the wind.

How hypocritical this is, Thailand did the very same thing last year. Previously all low value ( 1500 THB and under  ) parcels coming into Thailand were duty free but they changed the law to all imports attract duty. And they are complaining that Trump is doing the same!!!

Now even in my E.U home country our national post does not accept anymore packages sending TO the USA untill they  know what this tarifs go bring
