Keir Starmer has been a total failure as Prime Minister

Angela Rayner's Resignation Throws PM Starmer’s Plans into Disarray!

This week, Sir Keir Starmer aimed to hit reset on his government, attempting to leave behind a rocky 14 months. He announced "phase two" with a promise to deliver for the British public. Yet, the ambition quickly unravelled as Angela Rayner, his fiery deputy, resigned over a tax scandal involving £40,000 in unpaid stamp duty.

Rayner's departure forced Starmer into a major cabinet reshuffle, an action he had hoped to delay. The UK saw new appointments: Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, and Justice Secretary. Rayner, admired by many for her working-class roots and rise through the ranks, was both a critical ally and a connection to the Labour grassroots. Her absence now poses a significant challenge for Starmer, who already struggles to connect with the traditional Labour base.

The reshuffle wasn’t just about damage control; it represented a deeper admission of failure. Starmer’s first phase had not achieved its goals, prompting a shift in strategy and personnel. Darren Jones, formerly of the Treasury, now takes on the new role of Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, tasked with ensuring delivery on key priorities: economic growth, border security, and NHS improvements.

However, this strategy shift highlights the abandonment of previous objectives set in July 2024, such as expanding clean energy and improving schools. The economy is strained with persistent inflation and rising unemployment. Crime statistics show a decline, yet a surge in shoplifting undermines perceptions of safety. Promises to cut energy bills remain unfulfilled, with actual costs up since Labour took power.

The NHS did see waiting lists drop slightly, but challenges remain. Educational reforms are underway but progress is slow, with plans to address the special needs crisis yet to be revealed.

Rayner's exit adds to Starmer’s woes. Her outspokenness made her a thorn in the side of opponents, but her loyalty helped ease scepticism about Starmer from Labour supporters. Her criticism of Conservatives, describing them as "a bunch of scum," resonated but also alienated some MPs.

This reshuffle carries risks. Shabana Mahmood’s new role as Home Secretary reflects an acknowledgment of immigration policy failures under Yvette Cooper, who moves to the Foreign Office. Mahmood's task will be complex as she navigates this contentious area with high public interest.

Starmer also seems to question the capability of Chancellor Rachel Reeves. Despite their public claims of unity, Starmer brought in Minouche Shafik as Chief Economic Advisor, reporting directly to him. Reeves, having shown vulnerability in Parliament, seemingly retains her position due to political optics.

This power shift in economic affairs mirrors historical risks. Similar moves contributed to Margaret Thatcher’s downfall in 1990, warning Starmer of potential fallout.

Labour MPs express concern over what the “phase two” launch signifies. Some believe Starmer lacks a concrete plan beyond gaining office and sidelining Jeremy Corbyn’s allies. The government’s achievements seem overshadowed by public dissatisfaction and bad news filling the void. Notably, voters’ memories of Labour’s tenure linger on controversial decisions rather than successes.

Financial constraints plague the government. National debt stands at £2.8 trillion with interest payments of around £105 billion annually. Comparatively, in 2020, interest spending was a mere £25 billion. This economic inheritance complicates Labour's ability to fulfil promises, overshadowing Starmer’s attempts to steer policy.

Labour’s future faces threats not only from traditional Conservative opponents but from a potential coalition of Reform Party and left-aligned groups. Scottish and Welsh elections alongside local votes in English cities stir concern over electoral performance.

Running a government is fraught with challenges. Starmer’s relaunch signals his recognition of past failures. The question remains how effectively he and his team can meet current difficulties and reassure a sceptical public. As “phase two” unfolds, all eyes are on whether Starmer can truly deliver change or if further chaos lies ahead.

Spot on. The whole woke ideology is a manifest failure. It's only a matter of time before it is tossed into the dustbin of history.

The anti-Keir threads tend to be dominated by a few 'haters', while the antagonism towards Trump is shared by many across all countries and nationalities.

Indeed. The progressive radical woke left as a whole is a failure and Starmer's part of it. I would love you progressive woke lefties on here to argue why the woke progressive left isn't a complete and utter failure. Can I suggest you argue why soft on crime is a good thing. Maybe why massive immigration is a good thing. Men identifying as women in women's sport's is a good thing. They/them pronouns are a good thing. Giving children hormone blockers is a good thing. The list of "good things" the progressive left pushes is long so I'd like to hear from you progressive radical leftists on here why Starmer isn't a failure and why the progressive radical woke left is a good thing?

How come the ratio of threads about this guy is 1:1000 compared to Trump?

Aren't there more Brits than Americans in Thailand?

Weird.

So says the Daily Express 🤣

And every poll in existence.

The only way he can reduce calls for his resignation is to make Lammy the next in line. Lucky for him the only man stupider than him in Britain is in his cabinet, and now the deputy PM.

Cheers. Notice how so far not one of the several wokies on here haven't addressed my points. They can't because this crazy ideology simply doesn't make sense. It's driven by minority activists.

Agreed.

The idea of a low IQ demographic getting preferential treatment and running the show needs to be terminated ASAP.

Polar opposites.

Trump stands up to people. Trump gets things done, whether you agree with his policies or not.

Starmer folds under pressure and generally gets nothing done.

Him and his entire front bench. If there is the same laws for everyone then he and his bench should be looking forward to life without parole.

Most of the problems that have beset to UK can be put down to one person, David Cameron. Every thing after his damn stupid idea to have a referendum, purely to placate the blue rinse fringe in the Conservative party. And as soon as the vote did my go the way he thought he promptly effed off. Every PM since then has been useless. Some far more than others, BJ and LT to name the worst. Starmer is just a continuation of second rate leaders. The joke is DC gave us the referendum to see off UKIP and the Tories finished up caving in to Reform. Now Corbin is starting a left wing party that will suck the vote from disgruntled Labour voters. The next election will be Corbin's party verses reform with the Tories and Labour sitting on the sidelines.

Yes I believe so.

Choose a deputy even worse than you to make yourself look good.

Not easy if you're as bad as Starmer. But up steps Lammy. Possibly the only politician worse than Rayner.

Starmer is trolling us.

The Fabian Society is apparently the real power in the UK.

Right wing Brits can vote in US elections? That explains the "totally unexpected" GOP landslide in the election. CNN obviously didn't include us in the polls.

Can you send me a link how to register please. I'm interested.
