  • Lock him up. He already wriggled out of the first try. No bail, no appeal, like monopoly, "Go straight to jail".

  • He will not serve one day in a prison cell.

  • Well you could knock me over with a feather at this time. No way I would predict this.I thought he was tipped off and all was okay for his return. Now lets see if he (actually ) spends time in a

Im sure he will not be in general population but some type of upgraded detainment. Let's see how long he last and more importantly how much news reporting continues on an on-going basis.

SWMBO assures me that money buys a lot of comforts in a Thai jail.....(not that she's been in jail....as far as I know)

Thaksin was seen inside the transport van wearing a blue inmate uniform

he underwent the full standard intake process in accordance with the Department of Corrections’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This included verification of his identity against the court warrant, creation of an inmate record, health screening, and searches for contraband and prohibited items. His personal belongings were managed according to regulations, and he was briefed on prison rules and regulations before being placed in the reception area for classification.

Apparently he will spend his time in Klong Prem Central Prison. Lucky for him they have training programs such as furniture making and welding, so he will not be a burden on society when released

If anything, the "prison cell" will offer all the luxuries of a 5-star hotel and the food will be in the same category!:clap2:

Your wife knows nothing, then.

Human rights organizations like FIDH and UCL have condemned the “double standards,” that exist in Thai jails calling for reforms to ensure humane and equal treatment for all prisoners. Their 2024 report highlights how social status and wealth can significantly alter the prison experience, undermining Thailand’s obligations under international human rights law

He will either appeal and this time wear a ankle bracelet and serve his sentence under home arrest or be put in a luxury cell complete with Internet ect and get months off for good behaviour, option 1 will probably prevail as they will argue that it's to dangerous to put him in the Hilton as someone might try to harm him.

Either way this move is to keep him out of the political spectrum as planned by leaky recorder.

This gives them time to install a new government,

Wow they staged a war to get rid of his clan and install a drug dealer

My first thoughts.....but an appeal is not allowed!!

There is no formal method to accommodate house arrests....basically they don't exist in Thailand????

But I agree......it's hard to believe some "out" won't be found for him.

Exactly my point.  Anything you hear will be slanted to fit whatever narrative they want you to hear

A Mercedes-Benz van belonging to the Shinawatra family was seen entering Klong Prem Central Prison, the day after Thaksin was imprisoned for the first night to serve a one-year sentence related to a prior court case.

Yes if you have money you can live "comfortably" in jail here compared to the run of the mill inmate. But I'm sure Liverpool Lou will tell us all about his midnight express style stay here to correct everyone's misperception.

Tony never came to see the grandkids.  At the top of his priorities is "Power" and "Money."  "Grandkids may not even be on this particular list.

Thaksin Shinawatra has been sentenced to serve one year in prison after a Supreme Court ruling

Okay, so many of you are happy Mr T is now in prison. but IMO these should also be serving sentences in prison:-

Red Bull man - say no more!

The corrupt judiciary and police involved in the Kho Tao murder investigation and the wrongful conviction of the young Burmese men Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Tun.

The 4th Army Commanders and local Police in Narathiwat for the violent crackdown on civilian Muslims when 78 of them were suffocated and murdered by being locked in vans without ventilation. The Tak Bai Massacre 2004. Many of the perpetrators conveniently fled Thailand never to return to serve their sentences.

Abhisit Vejjajiva (PM) and Suthep Thaugsuban (DPM) the Yellow Shirt leaders who ordered the cessation of protesting red shirts in Bangkok on 10 May 2010, in which 90 civilians were shot dead, many innocent victims, some foreign,  caught in cross-fire. One of the victims was a Thai nurse who was shot in the back whilst attending the injured. SHAME on you Yellow Shirts, the appropriate colour for the streaks down your backs!

I lived in Thailand during ALL these incidents.

Amarni, Antonio - Booked into the Ritz, Dubai.
Shinawatra, Thaksin - (kind of a body-double) Booked into, somewhere, under "Department of Corrections’ Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This included verification of his identity against the court warrant, creation of an inmate record, health screening, and searches for contraband and prohibited items. His personal belongings were managed according to regulations, and he was briefed on prison rules and regulations before being placed in the reception area for classification."

I bet Antonio is going to completely fall off of the radar for the next year.

Apparently this is the loop hole......he wasn't convicted or sentenced as such....this was simply sentence enforcement and won't affect his ability to serve as a politician...

Interesting use of the word "serve"    The only person he "serves" is himself   Does self service count?

Haha....very true....fortunately I was wrong (I know, hard to believe)......although barred.....he is not banned????

Either way he can't formally have a political role.

He’s had a result and should serve his time. But because it’s Thaksin you know they’ll be games aplenty.

His trouble is he never knows when to STFU.

In the the places were Taksin should be resident for the next 12 months, a small lump of butter could become a very "comforting" commodity which could make a very big difference, not necessarily from a culinary perspective. Unfortunately for him it would be single use only

He will spend time in prison, just not in a regular cell.  He'll get special meals, visitors whenever he wants them, and although it won't be as comfortable as he's used to, he won't be suffering.

In the unlikely event he does go to jail you can be sure he will have a private luxury cell with every convenience known to man...

He will go to jail and do the time.  It will be interesting to see what this jail cell looks like, and I think it is a guarantee that someone is going to leak pics.

He really had no choice but to come back. If he had left it would have been the absolute end of the Shin family influence as well as the pTP. It is goingto be interesting to see how he runs the party from behind bars.

At least not in a normal cell, private cell with TV, internet access, fridge and meals from outside...... or home detention for a year being more likely.

I rather imagine, as you describe for a few weeks followed by home detention.

Didn't take long for the jail rape aficionados to turn up did it?

My thoughts....but reading up on it (which some members object to me doing, not you)......it seems there is no home detention system as such????

No—Thaksin cannot appeal the Supreme Court’s ruling. The decision handed down on September 9, 2025, by Thailand’s Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions is final and unappealable

It might be "proposed" as a means of reducing prison overcrowding?

Initial trials to start for elderly male prisoners, with suitable secure homes, in the next couple of weeks...
