The pillow has a design that can be adjusted to 2 levels of height (15 cm. and 23 cm.) to fit each body shape and the different needs of each user.

Fortunately, so far, I have never had any issues lying flat (and I do not mean in the idomatic sense of Lying Flat in China).

However, if I needed to sleep with head elevated, for whatever reason, I would buy one of these.

This way, I could still lie flat without a kink in my neck, next morning.

You really do not need to buy anything.

Just put a couple of cinderblocks under the two front feet of your bed....(lowest cost solution)....

Cinderblocks about 4000 times lower cost than.....

The blood rushes to your feet so not a good idea

I have a foam wedge for sleeping and found it uncomfortable.

i usually wake at 3am and need to gulp some gavisscon meds nd some warm water.which works till 6 or 7 am ,no  lie ins

spicy food is a no no or makes it worse

Omeprazole works wonders for me

Of course, for you — but for anyone on clopidogrel, I don’t think this will work well. I just mention it as a precaution, hoping to help prevent harm in the time we still have. Some miracles don’t work for everyone. Sadly, there’s too much politics involved here.

I've suffered, on and off, with acid reflux for years and tried every conceivable treatment I've come across to little or no avail.
A few months ago, I sweet-pickled some young root ginger in thin slices and bingo! ... A slice or two before bedtime has stopped me having to sit up and wait for the reflux to settle.
It's worth a try, ginger has many health benefits anyway. I use young root ginger as it's less fibrous and easier to slice thinly.

How to spot young root ginger? i buy ginger in the market, all looks the same

Apple cider vinegar with "The Mother", those are particles that make it cloudy.

One tablespoon, in a 16oz glass of water every morning, bye-bye acid reflux.

Also neutralizes halitosis (stink air coming out of the body, not just bad breath) which is often associated with consistent acid reflux.

20mg is useless, need 40mg, a Dr in UK told me that, he was right, was for gastritis at the time

Depends on the individual.  20 mg works for me.  Take for 14 days, then lay off for awhile.

Resume when symptoms return.

I just use 2 regular pillows, also I eat my main meal around 3-4PM, and only have a light snack after that time, if I have a large dinner at night I have trouble sleeping. I do try to sleep on my left but I'm a restless sleeper and turn around and around dozens of times every night.

The others in that family class are often prescribed at 30mg which is why for many 20mg is not enough, taking for 14 days seems short, usually takes that long to take effect, maybe antacids would work just as well

Young or new crop ginger has much thinner skin and looks a more yellowy colour, it also still has its stalk attached.

Don't get it confused with galangal which looks similar

Old vs New

I buy 20mg time release capsules.  Label recommends 14 days..  Works for me.

I no longer eat spicy food. I also avoid citrus fruits and have cut down my caffeine intake, but will probably have to totally cut it out.  Working out what other triggers I have.

I had GERD for a number of years and was eventually diagnosed with Barrett's oesophagus, which my doctor suggested could become a problem if it got any worse, so I tried all of the usual medications, although I didn't try Nexium, which was the "latest" drug after omeprazole.

Even after years of trying, I was still getting reflux despite changing pillows, bed height, eating and drinking habits and so on and I decided to try a natural solution which had good feedback from users and it was also mentioned in a couple of medical journals.

It came in the form of capsules and after a few months, my reflux was gone and I could even go back to drinking red wine, eating spicy food, including chilis and so on and I've been free of it for years now and I can eat and drink just about anything, apart from strong coffee.

When I visited my New Zealand surgeon/Dr for a gastroscopy checkup a few years back, he was amazed that the damage to my oesophagus had completely healed and when I told him the name of the capsules I took, he got onto the Internet there and then and sought out some trials of the product and ordered some for a friend of his.

The name of the capsules was D-Limonene and as I recall I took the 1000 mg capsules (or was it 500mg) for a period of a few months and apart from a few orange burps, I had no problems whatsoever. I still don't suffer from it at all.

Sorry to hear about your problems @GarryP and perhaps what cured me can possibly help you. Good luck.

I'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion. I certainly like the idea of being able to eat things which are now off the menu for me.

Well no, because liquorice does have a calming effect on GERD, and I seem to have gone off my licorice allsorts craving at the moment, which is really what I wanted to do because I've piled on a few kilos since gorging myself on these delightful sweets!!

Finding these d-limonene capsules was a "godsend" for me, because at one time I was taking 40 mg omeprazole per day and sometimes more and although it helped, it didn't completely alleviate the problem. My reflux was so bad that it ruled my life and my Barrett's oesophagus got so bad that between them they were responsible for me quitting my job in NZ and moving to Thailand.

There follows a few links you might want to look at Garry, and I am so VERY pleased that I'm now able to eat spicy food, which I love, and drink red wine which I also love!

Being a solvent of cholesterol, d-limonene has been used clinically to dissolve cholesterol-containing gallstones. Because of its gastric acid neutralizing effect and its support of normal peristalsis, it has also been used for relief of heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). D-limonene has well-established chemopreventive activity against many types of cancer.

Its medicinal uses include chemopreventive and chemotherapeutic properties [2,3]. It has also been used to dissolve gallstones by administration through a choledochal drain [4,5] and to relieve heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux

I buy Finnish liquorice sweets on Shopada, lovely.

I don't think there is much of it in the Barrett's Allsorts, but still, they are a good memory for me.

Not knowing what d-limonene was, so I AI-ed it.

Made from oil out of citrus fruits, mainly lemon, but mainly used for petroleum substitute or in scents, soap etc, and a de-greaser in cleaning products, paint stripper.

INVESTIGATED for POTENTIAL anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties.

It is used in some natural health supplements, though evidence is mixed.

Use against GERD was carried out in 2000, but no conclusive results.

But if it works for you, great. Could your use be the placebo effect?

OMG.....NO, NO, NO.

Stop all reflux in 24 hours with PPIs.

Been on them for 20 years.....not a fan of oesophageal cancer.

It doesn't seem to be available in Thailand.

It sounds like your reflux may have been due to work related stress, hence the improvement on retiring to Thailand. Anyway, I read one study on it that ran some placebo tests and the results for the D-limonene were very positive. So I will dig a bit deeper. Did you find a source in Thailand?

FYI, I do not suffer from bad indigestion or heart burn, and never had pain in my chest that could be confused with a heart attack. My main symptom is a swollen throat, and the occasional feeling of something acidic rising in my throat (gassy rather than liquid). However, the swollen, uncomfortable feeling (no pain) lasts for days and sometimes weeks. Having said that, I have no problem with swallowing food, just the constant discomfort.

A bit more backkground. I am now retired so work stress is not a component. I am not overweight and workout regularly on my rowing machine and go for the occassional long bike ride. I do not drink much alcohol (no spirits at all), only the odd can of beer (reduced from a can or two a day). No sleeping issues. Fall asleep within a minute of my head hitting the pillow, of which my wife is seriously jealous. So just need to get this issue fixed.

Make lunch the large meal of the day not supper/dinner? I don't think I have GERD but if I get a tingle late at might I simple suck an Antacil. Seems to work.

True....but for me, after years of suffering, it makes the reflux totally painless.

The alternative, an operation, is fraught with difficulties.

Barrett’s esophagus, which I'm sure you know, is a precursor to cancer. is primarily caused by chronic exposure to stomach acid, not enzymes.

PPIs are the way to go.

Yeah, I mentioned to my wife yesterday that I need to change the main meal to midday, rather than the evening.

It is available online and I think also from Lazada (and iHerb) Garry and not really too expensive. In the links I gave you, there have been some positive outcomes, however I can only speak from my experience.

Certainly my stressful job didn't help, however you've got nothing to lose by trying it....... unless of course you have an hiatal hernia, in which case d-limonene probably won't be of much help. Have you been checked for this condition??

As the saying goes....."it works for me". However some trial outcomes are positive and not necessarily due to the placebo effect.
