400 times more Muslims in Malaysia as well.

5 times actually - but they are not 'Arabic Muslims'. Just like the Muslims in Thailand, the vast majority are peaceful and friendly, and they tolerate western people a lot better than they do in most Arabic countries. Many easily accessible Bars and Bars Girls? Not.

There is no question that Malaysia is a very beautiful country with pristine jungles incredible beaches and beautiful islands. For me the issue is that the people are just not as much fun to be around

Hat Yai's population doubles every weekend as hordes of Malay men arrive to check out the beauties of Thailand.

Now imagine what Thailand's 17.5 million arrivals would look like without them.

Have you actually spent any time in Hat Yai? If you had you'd know that is inaccurate; whilst there are indeed a lot, of largely Chinese Malaysians that come to see the ladies, most Malaysians, and indeed most Malay men, are there with their families. Malay men looking for a quick leg-over don't stray beyond Sungai Golok or Sadao.

Malaysians are not brainwashed that it is the best country of the world as in Thailand nothing else exists as only Thailand.. That is probably why Thailand is losing it.. no changes for decades, as for alcohol sales hours, vaping, 90 days reports, as it seems you are a criminal, outdate labour laws such as for guides...and the greed because of corruption and laziness is gigantic that is why double pricing, extreme taxes for foreigners and imported articles are contributing to the downgrade of tourism and the country.. But many Thailovers here don't see the problem, while even several times they comment that leaving is better for the foreigners, as they have no clue what in reality the foreigners contribute to the country.. Brainwashed by the idea that Thailand is the place to be, but a negative review of a restaurant or hotel can give a lawsuit for defamation.. Things have to change in Thailand really to make Thailand a welcoming country again. And yes negative comments are needed for that so that it is known what they can change

Always wanted to go to Cameron Highlands . . . until I saw it. Lots of trashy, overcrowded and just plain ugly buildings around. OTOH I do like Malaysia's roads and highways. People follow traffic laws and the roads stay in good repair. I also like that you need to earn your way by taking the steps up to the Batu Caves. Saw many people just collapsing about a third of the way up. I wonder how many heart attacks happen there? But if you want a selfie at the caves you will need to have put out some calories to do so.

I visited Batu Caves during the festival of Thaipusam, the sheer weight of numbers carries you up the stairs, coming down was more scary because of the crowds.

I've been there a couple of times. Just ordinary days, with plenty of space and room for people to stop and rest on the way to the top. I enjoyed the experience. FWIW KL has better shopping malls, too, especially if you want to buy western/American food. I see that many American food makers distribute out of Malaysia to the rest of the region. All in all, Malaysia is much tidier place than Thailand but with quite a few tacky spots as well. Still, I prefer the ease and friendliness of Thailand. Much better if you go by taxi in Thailand than in Malaysia, btw.

Recently visited Georgetown , horrified by the rampant unchecked , ugly property  development . K.L  must be the same. THAI has it's moments but better than Malaysia in that regard.

You can't surf in Malaysia.

It is very hard to get a long stay visa - unless you have loads of money and buy property.

I spent quite a while in Kuala Lumpur talking to a Malaysian Christian.

He gets absolutely nothing from anyone. If a Muslim is hungry he can go to the mosque and get food. Not the Christians.

It may look like a semi western country but at the basic level it is fundamentally Islamic.

I won't be going back.

do they sell pork in malaysia ?

A1

•  Non-Halal Sections: Pork is sold in designated non-halal sections of supermarkets and wet markets, especially in urban areas like Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor Bahru.

•  Chinese-Owned Shops: Many Chinese grocery stores and butcheries stock pork products, including fresh cuts, bacon, sausages, and preserved meats.

•  Restaurants: Non-halal restaurants, particularly Chinese eateries, often serve pork dishes. These are clearly marked and separate from halal-certified establishments.

Yes. I recall reading that pork is also a major Malaysian export.

Went there twice, in 1998, and again 25 years later... Loved it both times, even though it was very crowded.

More to the point, do they have a Nana Plaza and a soi 6?

I thought the Sharia police can cane you for being with a Malaysian woman unless you are married. That is why most of the hookers are Vietnamese, Myanmar etc. They used to have Rich more Hotel, Pudu, which was like a dirty Nana with lots of sleazy pimps hanging around but I think all closed down now.

Fair enough - up to you.  But my experience visiting there some years ago was that it was very good and I was treated well. Mind you I was not starving and trying to get some food in a Mosque.  They are not as friendly and open minded as Thais - but I was not living there full-time. However, I note that the story is about tourists and the attractions of visiting - not about living there full-time. I chose to retire to Thailand - not Malaysia - but as a place to visit it is just fine (and better today I am led to believe).

Thai women 1000 times more available than Malaysian

Malaysian woman have in general higher education

AI-oversikt

Malaysian women generally have higher participation and enrollment in higher education than Thai women, with females making up over 60% of university students in Malaysia, while the overall tertiary education enrollment for females in Thailand was under 20% in 2020. This trend in Malaysia is a result of increased government focus on gender equality in education, leading to substantially higher female educational attainment over time.

Malaysia

High female enrollment:

In 2020, females accounted for 61% of students in public universities and nearly 53% in private institutions.

Educational reforms:

Significant advancements in the Malaysian education system, particularly after independence, have led to more equal access for boys and girls.

Increased attainment:

Female adult literacy in Malaysia increased from 61.3% in 1980 to 90.8% by 2010.

Thailand

Lower overall enrollment: In 2020, the average female enrollment in tertiary education across ASEAN countries, including Thailand, was less than 20%.

Minimal improvement: There was little change in female enrollment from 2015 to 2020.

Reflects overall population: Female enrollment and completion rates in Thailand's tertiary education mirror the overall status of the population, with minimal gender disparity

No not really,  just another blow to Thailand from their ASEAN brethren who are fed up with LOS getting all the love for the last 50 years.

And where does that leave Vietnam, 4000?

My Thai wife would agree with you. She thinks Viet women are beautiful too. My personal opinion doesn't mean crap, but Thai women overall are second only to Viet women in terms of beauty.  I see naturally beautiful women everywhere in Sai Gon or Ha Noi whenever I'm there.  Bangkok has perhaps the most beautiful women anywhere.  I'm not talking about the plastic HiSo, but the common folks throughput the city.
