Police in Chonburi have arrested a 23-year-old man accused of stealing more than 10 Honda PCX motorcycles worth around 82,500 baht each, selling them for just 20,000 baht to raise money for his mother to feed 300 stray dogs. The suspect, identified as Tawarat, nicknamed “Toey Sriracha,” was detained on 9 October 2025 outside a convenience store in Na Jomtien while allegedly preparing to steal another motorcycle. His thefts spanned several districts, including Pattaya, Bang Lamung, Nong Prue, Na Jomtien and Sriracha.

The arrest followed an investigation led by Pol. Lt. Col. Arut Sathanon, Deputy Chief of Pattaya Police, and Pol. Lt. Col. Supawat Lattapreecha, Deputy Chief of Crime Suppression. Over the past month, CCTV footage and police analysis indicated a single suspect had targeted Honda PCX motorcycles in multiple incidents. Investigators tracked Tawarat’s movements to Sriracha before capturing him during a suspected theft attempt in Sattahip District.

During interrogation, Tawarat admitted to deliberately stealing only Honda PCX motorcycles, explaining that he sold them to a purchasing group for approximately 20,000 baht per bike. One of the stolen motorcycles were used for personal transport, while others were sold to fund purchases of dog food for his mother’s care of around 300 stray dogs. Police say Tawarat employed a new, highly efficient theft method, taking less than a minute to steal a motorcycle. He reportedly studied the mechanics of the Honda PCX in detail to exploit its vulnerabilities.

Police recovered one stolen motorcycle and returned it to its rightful owner, but investigations are ongoing to trace the rest. Officers have urged Honda PCX owners to adopt stronger theft-prevention measures, warning that the suspect’s method poses a new threat to owners of this model. The police are actively pursuing leads to recover all stolen motorcycles and apprehend any accomplices who may have purchased them.

Guy sure is making a nuisance of himself in the neighbourhood. Neighbours can't even get on their bikes to get away from the 300 yapping strays.

I doubt his dog story; it's something he told the police.  I bet he's living the high life having once given his mother some dosh.

Well that's a lie. No way any Thai person would sell something that cheap and leave so much money on the table.

Like proton said...  He's not wrong.  Not all of them, of course.  Some of them live like paupers, but still on the charity dime.

Edit:  For me, the real head scratchers are the ones that take Thai dogs off the streets and fly them to Europe, the USA, etc. after they're adopted online.  That just doesn't seem like an efficient use of charity funds.  Admittedly, I don't know how common that is.  I just saw it on the interwebs.

How does he nick them ?

A Honda masterkey ot something ?

Can someone please visit him in jail and get back to me ?

That's a lot of barfines.

The last thing people want to do is import a so called rescue dog. People I know who have done it in the UK, last one spending hundreds on a dog from Romania, turned out to be crazy. They are usually very damaged dogs and sometimes better off dead. Another one had a rescue mutt also so mental it had to be shut in the shed most of the time, what's the point?

One came to one of the Expats club recently, he runs a  dog charity and keeps  a lot of disabled dogs. He was a fair way off being a millionaire.  Just a person who loves dogs. One can forget charitable people exist in the wasteland of Pattaya sometimes.
