A early morning altercation in Pattaya ended with an Indian man being knocked unconscious after reportedly arguing with another man who tried to stop him from urinating by the roadside. The incident occurred at around 00:30 on October 13, 2025, in front of Runway Market along Pattaya Second Road. Rescue volunteers arrived quickly to find the injured man lying motionless in a pool of blood.

Witnesses told responders that the victim, a male Indian national, fell to the ground after being pushed during a heated exchange. His head struck the pavement, rendering him unconscious. Rescue workers provided initial first aid at the scene before rushing him to hospital for emergency treatment.

Police said the suspect, fled before officers arrived. Authorities have not yet released the identity of either man as investigations continue. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to help track down the suspect.

The incident has drawn concern from local residents and business owners, who say arguments and street altercations remain an issue in entertainment areas during late hours. They have urged authorities to increase patrols and lighting along busy tourist zones, where incidents involving visitors and residents occasionally occur.

Officials said that the Indian man remains under medical observation and his condition will be reassessed once he regains consciousness. Police are expected to summon witnesses for further questioning and may issue an arrest warrant once the suspect is identified. The investigation is ongoing.

A hate crime is a criminal offense motivated by prejudice against a victim's perceived or actual race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, or gender identity. It involves both a criminal act, such as assault or vandalism, and a bias motivation. This can also include acts targeting property, and if an act is not criminal but still motivated by prejudice, it is considered a hate incident, which can be more serious than it first appears.

Elements of a hate crime

    Criminal offense:
The act must be a crime, such as murder, arson, assault, vandalism, harassment, or bullying.

Bias motivation:
The crime must be motivated, in whole or in part, by bias against a protected characteristic of the victim or a group they are perceived to belong to.

Examples of protected characteristics

    Race or ethnicity
    Religion or belief
    Disability
    Sexual orientation
    Gender or gender identity
    Age
    Nationality

Took a pee in a place that was obvious, got pushed, fell to the ground, hit his head and knocked himself out. If your bursting for a pee do what the Thais do and pick a spot that isn't obvious.

Violent crimes are hate crimes, intentional against a person or business. Robbing a bank or stealing isn't a hate crime but one of many for profit. Driving drunk isn't a hate crime but just ignorance of the laws and lack of concern for self or others, but not intentional.

Robbing a bank is hating being poor.

Pure speculation, made up to fit your narrative.

Do you automatically scream racism when a victim (?) is not white?

Would he have been smacked if he wasn't having a pee in a public place where others can see him?  No.  He was smacked as he is showing complete disrespect to the country he is a guest of.   If someone entered my home and decided to pee anywhere other than the toilet they would also receive a smack.  You can call it a hate crime if you want and you would be correct as I have a hatred of people disrespecting a country or a place not their own that they are visiting.   I just hope the person who smacked him hasn't hurt his hand too badly.

Some people hate when you urinate on their business.

He was Indian, so lucky he didn’t drop a hot steaming turd which travelers to India will have seen.

Indians don't seem to lack the concept that when traveling abroad, you can't treat it the same as your country. Can't piss and <deleted> anywhere you like, can't walk on the roads while holding hands and block traffic.

Every time I make a motorbike run to or from Chanthaburi/Pattaya, I have my spot at each end where I relieve myself of excess DNA. It's completely discrete. If this guy was openly taking a whizz on a public road in front of everyone around, then he deserves whatever he gets. I sincerely hope he heals and learns from this.

Thailand along with a host of other countries needs to address the lack of public toilets.

Don, what are you talking about.

The Indian was urinating in an area possibly close to the workplace of the person who hit him.

Urine stench in the workplace is unacceptable.

Knocking the idiot out was acceptable.

Keep it simple....... Indian now has Lessons learnt

You have a <deleted> at each end of the journey?

The stupidity of alcohol rears its ugly head again.

He was probably drunk out of his mind. Then all barriers go down. You pee anywhere you like.

Then when someone confronts you about it, since you're drunk out of your mind you start talking trash.

The guy gets angry and punches you. And since you're drunk out of your mind, you can't even defend yourself or extricate yourself from there.

They'd be better off installing more public toilets and trash bins.  And clearly marking them.

I'm one of those guys who believes that if your business model depends on drinking tourists, you really need to make it easier for them to find a legal place to pee.  And if you want them to spend their sweaty tourist money to buy snacks, you need to make it easier to find a place to bin the wrappers and empties.

Haven't been to Pattaya for a while... Is Runway Market on Second Road the latest party or tourist zone in Pattaya? 😆

Im not quarreling with the lack of public toilets, but there are hotels everywhere with Hong Nams. The bins, I totally agree. I walk around with wrappers in my pocket, ha.

Folks need to smoke more and drink less. Indians are terrible drunks, especially the low class ones that frequent Pattaya. Its wierd for me personally to see the way Indian dudes behave here because where I have been going in the USA, Indians and Sikhs are very very hiso, like Supercar American accent hiso.
