Once lauded for it's 1st amendment and freedom of speach, it's ever quickening decline into autocracy is aptly demonstrated with this ridiculous action from the State Department - it's freedom of speach but only if the speach suits our agenda. And as a reminder:-

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

The anti-Semites are still at it,more so then ever.

The thing is the far left desire to rip up the constitution but only use it now to justify a means to a end.

am most certain there are agencies monitoring all comments posted and stories posted in here from members. That is why AN is so strict about their rules on posting things about the royalty in Thailand.

Absurd comment. There is no connection between the two. The rules on lese majeste are enforced here because of the laws of Thailand and also - I am presuming here - out of respect given our status as guests in this country. There are no agencies monitoring comments posted.

Reality, both sides are shooting "Roman Salutes" or none of them are shooting Roman Salutes.

These meme have one purpose.  To agitate the "other side."  I find this debate about politicians "shooting Nazi (Roman) salutes" to be really tiring and rather absurd. Everyone is "waving."

In a classic case of turning the tables.....context is everything.

Watching the live action of Musk make this sign carries a radically different connotation.

As a US citizen, I personally detest this open attack on the First Amendment.  I see this eventually going before the SCOTUS.  The First Amendment protections of freedom of speech apply to everyone in the country legally.  But?  The Supreme Court needs to weigh in.  Until they do, the State Department will just continue to revoke visa of individuals who say things the government doesn't like.

Google Ai:

Do foreign nationals have the same rights as us citizens? I guess you're right to a certain degree but when you arent a citizen you can suffer the consequences of  being deported.

"No, foreign nationals do not have the same rights as U.S. citizens, but they are protected by many of the same constitutional rights, such as free speech, freedom of religion, and due process. Key differences include the inability to vote, serve on juries, hold public office, or hold a U.S. military officer position, and they face the risk of deportation".

"In the United States, foreigners generally have the right to free speech, but the extent of this right can vary depending on their immigration status. For those physically present in the U.S., the protections of the First Amendment typically apply, but the government's broad power over immigration means that exercising this right can carry risks for non-citizens".

There probably are in respect of Thai language social media content in respect of local activists and radicals. In the case of this forum - largely comprised of indifferently educated middle aged/elderly foreign retirees - not so much. Look at the low level nonsense uttered on political matters. No self respecting Thai spook could maintain interest in these witterings.

So you are conceding that the National Socialists were socialists before 1934?

Are you still doing that trite Musk Hoax?

Tell me, if someone came to your country and burnt your flag would you kick him out? How about burning a Koran?

Good Point Mate: Foreigners burning flags or cheering violence (like Kirk’s case) can’t expect a welcome in our country. Visas get revoked for threats under INA 212(a)(3)(B),citizens have rights, foreigners not so much.

even just had a meme of the great leader on your phone or

All AN accounts are linked to an email address.

Those are easily traced by authorities.

There are throwaway emails, you can get very easily.

If you use it only once and use a vpn it is virtually untraceable!

Ist amendment applies to USA citizens, not foreigners slagging off the country

Exactly.  Moreover, the First Amendment protects  against criminal prosecution by the government for merely expressing an idea. It does not absolve anyone, whether a U.S. citizen or foreigner, from all consequences of written or verbal statements.

The government can deny  or cancel a visa for any reason it chooses.  Granting or withdrawing a visa is an  administrative decision. It doesn't require a court decision with a finding of guilt. Only citizens have a right to  enter and remain in the U.S.

No it doesn’t.

It applies to the U.S. Government, denying the government the power to control speech.

There is a difference between wanting to harm people and insulting dear leader, unfortunately the current reich forgot that.
