Thai Airstrikes Hit Cambodian Positions as Clashes Escalate

The corrupt Dictatorship ion Cambodia hated how Thailand assisted in the shut down of their scam and gambling centres, which had been making a lot of money for them.  This border dispute is their method of deflecting from all the criticism, both internally and externally, about their regime.

In fact, the scammer networks were the main supply of money for Hun Sen and Hun Manet. The war on scammers is killing the Cambodian cash flow, hopefully the people rise up and overthrow the dictatorship.

Security Alert: Escalation of Armed Conflict Along the Thailand-Cambodia Border

Location: Thailand-Cambodia Border and Adjacent Provinces

Date: December 8, 2025

Event: The U.S. Embassy is monitoring reports of significant escalation in the conflict along the Thailand-Cambodia border.  On December 8, reports of artillery and small arms fire exchanges in border areas intensified. Both sides continue to report cross-border fire, and conditions remain volatile. U.S. citizens should avoid all travel within 50 kilometers of the Thailand-Cambodia border due to active hostilities and the unpredictable security situation. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services in affected provinces. U.S. citizens residing or traveling near affected areas should follow instructions from Thai security services and monitor local authorities for updated information.

Actions to Take:

Avoid all travel within 50 km of the Cambodia–Thailand border.
Follow directions from Thai security services and local authorities.
Prepare or update your personal emergency plan. Review the Traveler’s Checklist.

UPDATE
Army Warns of Possible Cambodian Rocket Attack

The Second Army Region issued a warning on the afternoon of 8 December, after receiving what it described as reliable intelligence indicating that Cambodia may be preparing to fire BM-21 multiple rocket launchers into Thai territory. The statement, posted shortly before 5pm on its official Facebook page, said the alleged plan aimed to cause injuries and damage to life and property. Residents in border areas were urged to move to safe locations and follow official instructions.

According to the announcement, the suspected attack could occur during night-time, a period the army says would make detection more difficult. The use of darkness could also heighten fear among communities close to the frontier. Authorities emphasised that their priority is public safety and the swift dissemination of warnings.

The Facebook post stated that the 2nd Army Region stands ready to intercept, defend, and respond “with full force and capability” if the threatened action materialises. This reaffirmation of readiness follows rising concerns along sections of the Thai–Cambodian border. While no further details were provided about the intelligence source, the army stressed that the information was credible enough to justify immediate precautionary measures.

Key Takeaways

• Thailand’s 2nd Army Region warned of a possible Cambodian BM-21 rocket attack based on what it called reliable intelligence.

• The army says any strike may be launched at night to hinder detection and intimidate border residents.

• Units are prepared to intercept and respond, while civilians are urged to follow safety instructions.

I know they are using F16's, but why not utilize their attack helicopters? I believe they have a several Cobras and AH-6's, perfect for close in fighting, and perfect for quick attack situations against enemy ground troops, or armored vehicles or missile launch vehicles.

The Thai Army stated that the attacks formed part of a wider pattern of Cambodian operations targeting Thai positions, including artillery and air-dropped munitions against the Anupong Base

What airborne vehicles did Cambodia use to deliver the air-dropped munitions?

So you don’t think Cambodia has drones from the drone command centre, or is this just another attempt at a snide remark against a news article!

Drones would be my guess, since Thailand sent F16's to bomb what they called a drone command center.

This is an opportunity to degrade illegal scam centres on the Cambodia side and remote military bases which are used for smuggling of drugs, land clearance, trafficking of wildlife, timber, and people.

If the conflict leads to the degradation of infrastructure used to facilitate illegal transnational business its a good thing for Thailand and for the region. The Hun family loses both money and face in the process.

The downside is that the Hun family playing the victim as a tool to shore up political support from within Cambodia and the collateral damage are the poor and marginalized people who live on both sides of the border whose livelihoods, and lives, are now at risk.

Not at all. I asked a simple question. I read that the RTAF had struck a casino alleged to be a 'drone control centre' If drones were used against Thai border positions the Thai retaliation would be justified but drones were not mentioned. Perhaps a helicopter was used.

50 km is well within range of the Cambodian guns / rockets . 150 km is probably safe .

I think the army is trying to avoid close in fighting.

Um..why do you make such a comment... You obviously are one eyed, and believe only the Thai side of the story.

Tell me, what has Cambodia got to gain.

Wife got a phone call yesterday from Koh Chang hospital, because of this 'war', if I don't need the oxidizer on loan from them would she return it ASAP, luckily I don't need it now. This has got completely out of hand now.

Thailand has the military advantage and should give Hun Sen a good spanking... blow up his casinos and take out all Cambobia's heavy rocket launchers and artillary. Cambodia has become the personal scam fiefdom of the ex-Khmer Rouge district commander and his corrupt family with the backing of Beijing... basically a crime state.

Total khrapp - Thailand does not recognised UN ICC or their authority over land border decisions - they did not defend or participate in any 'court trial' and because of their refusal to support the UN ICC, the decisions have come down against them - which Thailand rightly has ignored.

IMO Thailand will eventually run out of patience, and if not already doing it, they will align with the CIA to remove the Dictatorship - initially be decimating the Cambodian Military and then through targeted 'aid', support an overthrow of the current regime by the local Cambodians who have been fighting them for decades.  Then the 'deal' with the new Govt will be negotiations and agreement of the borders, and Cambodia formally withdrawing all UN border claims and recognising the agreed new borders.

I agree with you, follow the money. The casinos, scam call centers and scam internet centers right on the Thai border. But I don’t know about Trump’s CIA, he seems support dictators since he is trying to be one.

Well, no more tourists I suppose. Who wants a package tour to a warzone (yes, it is a border skirmish but think how it looks to tourists).

Drones of course...

My friend son is a fighter pilot so I Imagine he was involved but he would not talk about it if he did.It seems to be picking up again what will happen who knows

Is it really a warzone ??

Neither side has actually declared war.

If they do, that would see Cambodian workers deserting Thailand probably never to return.

And as for tourists, doubtful if their itineries stretch to the border areas. But if war is declared, tourists travel insurance will become void as they will be seen as visiting a war zone
