Its a pity that you are not back in the 1950's GG. Your problems would be solved and I know you would be frantically filling out the coupon.

Georgie boy is often referred to as the worst nuisance on the beach.

I also occasionally hear him referred to as the worst nuisance on AN Forum's

  • The best weapon is absence – remove yourself from the situation.    Learning anything like you suggest at your age will probably give you a false sense if confidence and get you hurt.

  • I reckon it's too late for you to learn these skills.    I don't think you have the coordination, the skill set required. Reading your recent postings, both monkey and ladyboy incident,

Dear Charles Atlas. I have completed the course now please send me the muscles.

An umbrella is very handy, even for dogs/snacks 🙂 this tactical one is good, carbon-fiber.

In America they are allowed to carry guns

I believe and don't quote me ,but I believe in the Philippines you can also carry with a licence

Mind you I heard here in Australia it's easy to get a gun licence

A gun is the answer GG, next time a monkey squares off, blast a cap.

I was nearly attacked in a park late last night by homeless people sitting on a park bench !!!;;

Did they actually stand up, or did they 'nearly attack' you from a sitting position?

I have been watching a few YouTube video ,I think and please don't quote me on this but the YouTuber is someone called Andrew Tate

And he says " a man should learn to be dangerous"

To protect his family

And 2026 for me will be learning boxing , karate , and everything else

I will travel to Thailand,to Phillipines to learn all disciplines

I'm thinking at my age I maybe better to stick with boxing and ....sorry to sound "violent " but ..learn the art of knife fighting and using a stick because at our age it's not easy to stand and fight normal so I need to learn weapons

This is a dangerous world especially for us mature age guys

All I ask and surely it's not too much is for you to learn some kind of fighting skills to protect yourself and your family

But....we need to learn it for our age group

It's no use if your 70 to do ju juitsu your going to get hurt

Weapons like Phillipines martual arts etc are better at your age

You will never know when you might need these skills believe me

If this is a general advise, think about all the crazy ones who take your word? Doesnt that makes the world more dangerous? Egocentric narcissists and psychopaths are more likely to feel insecure

I was nearly attacked last night at 11pm walking/ cutting through the City park on the way to work

2 guys sitting on the bench in the dark in hoodies staring at me as I walked past ,so dark in there , I think they were going to follow me until my phone rang

I think they were going to rob me

I won't walk through there at night anymore , I'm certainly shaken up a bit

I don't know if that's a strategy

But...I'm thinking it comes be a good strategy

To leave the situation immediately

Get some decent running shoes.

Always carry around one of those compact high luminosity tactical flashlights. These are non-lethal self-defense tools that primarily work by disorienting an attacker. They can also be used to enhance situational awareness and, in close quarters, serve as a physical striking weapon.

Reminds me of a joke :

A man got badly beat up in his local pub and thrown in the ditch outside.

The next day he took steps to learn how to fight and enrolled in a Karate class.

After 6 months he was a black belt and full of new self confidence.

The next day he returned to his local for the first time in 6 months.

He was beaten up again and ended up in the same ditch.

When he came to , there was an old brick in front of him. He chopped it in half with one blow.

Must have been a really good self defense system,it took me 6 years to earn my first dan.

I wonder if the Op, is on the payroll of AN in some way.

You know,  sat at the same Pc terminal as the likes of Bob smith and Louie  London. :coffee1:

This guy (OP) is fixated in adolescence.

Learning martial arts at his age not for sport or recreation but for self-defense?

Always something weird from him.

Make a nice heavy club out of tamarin, then first practice on watermelon, pumpkins and green squash. Pack it with you everywhere you go.

Anyone trying to get me into a scrap is only going to see my butt and the bottom of my tennis shoes.

I'm fast when I'm scared.  That's my strategy.

I found a good strategy in south-east Asia, when confronted by an aggresive person is to point and scream "look out!! An elephant!!", then run like <deleted> as they turn around...

This worked for me in Luang Prabang last year - no aggressive man but a boy with a humongous water gun during sonkran.  He was all lined up to blast me off my scooter, but I shouted out in Lao "look out!! an elephant!".  Since elephants on the streets of this town are not that unusual, he automatically swung round to look behind him and I was GONE.......

The only time I'm concerned about my safety in Thailand is when I'm around foreigners.

Just stay away from the tourist spots, you won't need to protect yourself.

Learning a martial art, boxing or fighting skills is a young man's game. At our age, it would only result in debilitating injuries. Best to just spend 10 minutes on Youtube, to learn a few defensive skills, that can result in a broken elbow or wrist, ending the fight immediately.

Just imagine you got a gun, you would had shot two innocent teenagers looking at a scared old man walking home from work with his nerves outside his jacket.

I'm surprised at you guys in Thailand who live close to Muay Thai gyms and yet don't do it

You can do it at any age just pace yourself

Judo taught me to fall off a motorbike without hurting myself. It also taught me how to trip bullies and run away. Don't think about how to fight. Leaving the scene works.

I do not understand why people do not exercise a few hours every second day or so, the answer is, lack of motivation and discipline

you chose what it is?

Hard to get going when everything hurts from morning, and do not understand it is because lack of exercise and diet. It is an evil circle with never ending excuses

I was unfortunately forced to defend myself from a physical attack last week.

Thankfully my French Foreign Legion and SEAL Team Six training kicked in naturally.

So a man in his 70s has to learn to ignore words and situations, to smile and find ways to back out and be on your merry way. If you are attacked by some nutter then go for the eyes, try to get your fingers/thumbs into his eyes and blind him, or get hold of something like a brick or a can of baked beans that you can clock him hard in the head with, then get out fast.

He would not get out very fast as he has claimed in the Pattaya thread, previously, that he is old and poor and uses a Zimmer Frame.

But wants to by a Gym, buy a motorbike and seeks advice on where to learn boxing. Etc. Etc.

Also claims to be "A little Black Duck" Googled it and was not surprised!
