You seriously need to get the banking app working. They're idiot-proof.

AND

They are much more secure than they used to be with fingerprint and/or facial recognition.

Which Thai bank are you with?

Blimey.  I don’t think I could go through life as Mika.  Never know paranoia like it.

Most risk can be mitigated by:

1) Cover your hand when entering your PIN

2) Not handing your card to a waiter, ask that you pay at the card reader yourself

2) Disable card functionality (online and in store purchases, cash withdrawals, etc) or freeze the whole card, via your bank website, except when youre using these functions

Credit  & Debit card precautions, from learning the hard way,by getting compromised.

I practice this.

I lock/unlock one card thats used with card terminals that require one to insert the card.

I use this card with purchases in shops all around Thailand.

I have another card I use for Topps & Lotus,no inserting the card while placing it over the machine.. I never  lock this card after ,it must be a secure way of transacting cause ,it never got compromised.

Atm's I use only at a bank location ,never allowing a security camera to  see the card while placing my hand over the keys.

Big C uses slot terminals so I use my lock /unlock method ,

I never let the cashier handle my cards.

I suggest you get over your “bad experience” with the app and use cardless withdrawal.

That or get over your paranoia of having your card skimmed.

But the biggest obstacle appears to be your state of mind.

I'm so paranoid about my card being skimmed at an ATM that I'm having a terrible Christmas, not just for me, but for everyone around me as well. What I wrote today may seem absurd, but the paranoia, being in the middle of nowhere, and waiting for money that never arrives have amplified this fear. First of all, I apologize to everyone, but I would like to know if the risk of card skimming is really that high. Thank you 🙏

Sounds like you are paranoid about being paranoid about......

I lived in Thailand for 20 years and regularly used my Bangkok Bank Visa and Mastercard Debit cards at ATMs. I was never scammed.

What is it that you want ?

He wants attention, nothing else.

Every time someone suggests something he cimes up with an argument not to...he's an attention seeker

Sounds like you are due then. 🙂

Always check the ATM card slot before using it, and if in a restaurant, hotel, shop etc, always maintain possession of the card, and you swipe it through Point Of Sale (POS) machine, don't hand it over to staff.

You living in fear for nothing!

Tweny plus years using cards, mainly debits foreign and local never have I been skimmed or had a card eaten

I make it a habit to use machines outside of 7/11 where is there is always people and cameras.

Second, outside of bank branches never in a stand alone my habits are the same back home.

I've done when traveling throughout Thailand. I don't use Credit cards strictly cash if needed same outside 7/11 or inside shopping mall.

a Debit card can't be skimmed

Yes they can.

Have a read on Google.

I don't doubt what you say I'm only applying that to my own situation where any time I use an ATM the SMS from the bank goes off before the money is released from the machine

I practically never use ATM's. I use my foreign card to do a counter withdrawal at Krungsri (no ATM fee, no risk of eaten card). Otherwise i do contactless payments at supermarkets. Only been skimmed once, by a car dealer nearly 30 years ago.
