The Revenge Club

I dont know if this has been mentioned before crime/drama---6 episode all out IMDB 6.8/10

Its a lightweight IMO, but if you have to much time on hand--or want something lighter.. have a look

Blurb-- Six divorce support group members shift from seeking healing to plotting revenge. Their shared pain creates an unexpected alliance, turning therapeutic meetings into something more sinister.

It's from 2024, but I just watched Mr Bates v the Post Office. It's about one of the worst examples of corporate greed and lying, and the failing UK justice system. For balance, it depicts a thoroughly decent Conservative MP who recognised the lies and deception and supported the 'little people'. It's fact-based. And the issue is still dragging its heels due to the lies from the Post Office boss at the centre of the scandal.

The much maligned Andrew Bridgen perhaps ?

Recently watched "Easy Rider" and noticed that Denis Hopper uses the term "man" in nearly all his rhetoric and wondered if he really was a bit of a "dopehead", then I remembered him in "Apocalypse Now" doing exactly the same thing......so perhaps that is how he normally spoke??

Anyway I enjoyed Easy Rider and also watched "The Godfather" and that has to be an all time great movie!

It was James Arbuthnot I was meaning.

Dan explores his past with an imprisoned father, brother and uncle.

Working in prison triggers fears he's destined for jail too.

His growing obsession endangers himself and his family.

Took a look at a movie I saw back in the early 80s, called "The Thing" and it good because I saw aspects of it that I had missed the first time round......"set in Antarctica where scientists encounter a parasitic, shape-shifting alien that can perfectly imitate other life forms, leading to intense paranoia and distrust. The barren, frozen landscape of Antarctica is a crucial element, amplifying the themes of isolation and survival against an unknown, insidious threat that could be anyone".

I can remember watching The Thing all those years ago. The effects were indeed "special".

Stephen Colbert thinks this is the greatest movie ever, once when he had his wife on the show she nagged him about it.

Yes. I caught that decades ago that he is incapable of speaking a sentence that does not have "man" in it at least twice (and of course it is an exaggeration, sort of). And yes, that's him being him, even the photography. I suspect that scene where he appears frightened of Brando's character is really about him realizing he was wearing on Coppola's nerves. Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse

There is a re-cut called Apocalypse Now Redux that includes French colonial hold-outs living in the jungle: IMO just itself is worth seeing the movie again.

Jay Kelly.

If you like George Clooney you'll love this movie. If not stay clear of it.

It's real Oscar-bait, full of the sort of scenes the Academy loves. He is in nearly every scene, and I have trouble believing he didn't direct it himself. George loves George. coffee1

Dennis Hopper: Uneasy Rider

I suspect the very first scene in Easy Rider is a hint as to how that movie was financed: the guy influenced the movie business by telling the mavens "no."

(fun fact: that guy in the limo testing the sample is Phil Spectre)

I decided to try Disney's "Togo" and was very pleasantly surprised. "Based on a true story" about a heroic musher in Alaska and his lead dog Togo braving the elements to bring medicine dying children, I thought it was great, if a bit corny.

I only tried it because it stars William DaFoe, and I'll watch anything he's in.

I just finished watching 'Red Eye', season 1 and it was very good.

Another very sophisticated film masterpiece from Korea. It's as good as they say.

However, some caveats. It's long and at least for me I feel that there was so much going on that I will really need to watch it again (and maybe more times) to really get it.

For some that's a feature. I generally prefer one and done movies except old ones that you watch many years later.

I abandoned it midway. It was supposed to be a movie about the consequences of Korean men losing their jobs and the effect it has on them but as it went on it became more and more ridiculous. "Falling Down" with Michael Douglas had the same basic theme but was probably a better movie (although I have seen it in 40 years)

Your opinion OK, but what you thought the movie was supposed to be was wrong. It's a dark comedic satirical thriller with an underlying social commentary message. As I said, it's very sophisticated. It demands a lot of its audience.

Patience Crime/Drama Season 2 8 episodes all out IMDB 7.9/10

I enjoyed season one last June---- A typical quirky UK crime series

Patience Evans works in a clerical role filing police records. An autistic woman, she has a special interest in solving puzzles and a secret fascination and talent for criminology—her unique perspective allows her to connect the dots through clues in a way others simply cannot.
