Does it really mean anything?

Yes, it is a tragedy and a total waste of a life.

Sadly this site has nasty people on it with no substance.

  • Exactly the same for myself. On occasion I will take a peek at one of his posts just to confirm he is still a complete knob. He never disappoints.

  • Looking at the leaderboard is a good indication of just how lefty the forum has become. The syndrome usually runs pretty deep each day.

Didn't know that was a thing, or what the other things mean in my profile that I never noticed. I apparently had 1 win ... yea cheesy

Most a sprinkling of emojis, but 3 post pushed me over the edge.

And of course, what is a day without AI back up

"Falsehoods come in many ways; some arise from ignorance or mistaken belief, while lies specifically involve knowingly presenting something untrue"

The more philosophical

In philosophy, a lie is traditionally understood as a moral act, not merely a factual one. What defines it is intentional deception. To lie is to know (or believe) something is false and will it to be accepted as true by another.

By contrast, falsehood is broader and morally neutral. A false statement may arise from:

  • ignorance,

  • limited perspective,

  • flawed reasoning,

  • inherited beliefs,

  • or sincere but mistaken conviction.

From this view:

Yet philosophy also recognizes a deeper complication: humans often participate in untruth without clear intent. Self-deception, cultural myths, ideological narratives, and unquestioned assumptions blur the boundary between lying and being mistaken. In such cases, truth is not rejected deliberately, but never genuinely sought.

Thus, one might say:

So philosophically:

  • lie is a conscious ethical failure.

  • Ignorance is an epistemic limitation.

  • Unexamined belief lies in between — morally ambiguous, but deeply influential.

If you’d like, I can also express this in a classicalexistential, or Eastern philosophy lens.

No thanks.

As negative emojis count, the leaderboard is most likely a leaderboard of losers

If I post on AN it's probably not a good day.

On a really good day I am doing other things and not thinking about AN.

Since I joined in 2019 I have averaged about 1.6 posts per day.

Even that is a bit of an embarrassment to me as I think that every post represents my need to "get a life".

If you have posted enough to get recognition, well "Get a life".

I think negative emojis don't count any more, in fact every negative emoji deduct a reputation point, otherwise I know someone who would win every day of the year.

if you have a link for that post it, I can't get anyone to confirm the rules, not that i really care but good to know for losers like Harris

I don't have any link, but since there are members with a negative reputation score, it should be obvious.

some people quit the forum because they've lost one too many arguments maybe? or received one too many negative emojis?

Hmm. More thumbs down emojis than all the other emojis added up. Good job.

I do hope someone's info that the thumbs down now deducts instead of adds to is accurate.

There is a whole section on rules, wouldn't be difficult to disclose a note about the leaderboard, a load of people including you and Harris thought it was just positive emojis

If you are lucky, and I mean very lucky, just maybe he will "donate" one of his many days won to you. After all, he has so many, and he wins so many, it would be the absolute least he could do.

Kinda like giving someone far less accomplished than you, your Nobel Peace Prize?

Now YOU stop making false accusations, thanks .

Nothing false about my allegations, now you back off telling lies, yet again.......... 🤥

Not sure what your point is, because that is what I said, only positive emojis. Every thumbs down deduct 1 point from your positive reputation score.

Look at Bob's last reincarnation, and see his negative score, which only would be possible if points are deducted.

If you expect me to go through all the rules for you, you are mistaken.

I'll leave that to you, you can dribble as much as you like over it...........😉

They also may have been simply overwhelmed by the forum's child-like emoji fetishism? For example, this thread is already at 5 pages and counting.

Think your calculator needs batteries. If you're taking the 17 & 27 as thumbs down, not how to read it. That's the total emoji count for the post.

The one with 17 for example:

21

and 27

Feel free to count up all the image.pngand get back to us with a accurate court, as we wait with baited breath.

I recall another poster (MalcolmB) boasting about how popular he was because he'd won 'poster of the day'...

When I checked - he'd won one day and for some inexplicable reason he carried it with pride.

What happened to Malcy ?? he's been very quiet on the forum.

I just had a look - 37 days - no idea what it means really and don't care - a lot of my 'wins' are likely to have been in an inconsequential thread where I'm taking the pish out of someone rather than providing a valuable assistance to someone or making an interesting or pertinent point....

IMO a +1 for someone helping out another with a visa issues etc is worth 10x a thumbs up or laugh for taking the mickey out of Cameroni's latest female fumble....

I've no idea if its just the +1's or of thumbs ups, laugh etc all count - its rather irrelevant - I'd rather know who posted what emoji's as some posters are supportive while others are vindictive and repetitively troll others.

Didn't he say he was going to meet a bird in Burma, I think his only hope, but, hmmmmm, 37 days....................😬

That mentally ill member with the all-time greatest number of thumbs down in AN history probably doesn't have any clue about any of this stuff. Surely he doesn't care at all about immaterial things like days won or thumbs down. Nope, you won't ever find him obsessing about any of that childish stuff, not even for a Bangkok second, mate.

This is a rather tragic and sad thread.

I didn't have a clue what "winning on AN" meant until I started reading some of the replies. So there are people who spend most of their day posting on this forum? That seems to be a sad way to spend life in this beautiful country where there is so much to do away from a keyboard. Everyone to their own I guess.

Would you notice if the function simply disappeared?

Won is one feature I have never noticed. Maybe my ad blocker takes care of it?

As an aside I think I only have two people blocked. They were sufficiently prolific AND predictable AND toxic AND affectless I decided they weren't worth the time spent scrolling past their putrescent inanity.
