Police have arrested a British national accused of shooting his Thai wife dead on 27 January, in Mahasarakham province, ending a manhunt that prompted public warnings across several areas in north-eastern Thailand. The suspect was later taken into custody after fleeing the scene with a firearm and officers are now preparing to question him in detail.

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30am, in the front courtyard of a homestay in Khok Kor subdistrict, Mueang district, Mahasarakham province. The female victim, Ms Phattharee, aged 44, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of gunshot wounds. The suspect fled immediately after the incident, triggering an urgent police investigation and search operation. An examination revealed a gunshot wound to the left temple with the bullet exiting the right side of her head and a .38 calibre shell casing was found at the scene.

According to police sources, the suspect was identified as Mr Anthony James Condron, a 58 year old British national. After the shooting, he drove away in a white four-door Isuzu vehicle, taking a firearm with him. Officers began tracking his movements using witness accounts and surveillance footage.

According to Mr Jamlong, aged 66, the victim’s uncle and an eyewitness, the incident followed a phone call from Mr Condron asking her to come to the homestay. When she arrived on her motorcycle, the suspect allegedly shouted at her in English, ignored attempts to calm the situation, retrieved a firearm and shot her. Mr Jamlong stated that the couple had lived together for more than 10 years and she had two children, a daughter and a son. He also claimed that Mr Condron was known to have a bad temper and had a history of drug use, including heroin, with a criminal record, including incidents of fighting and a car accident

Investigators later found that Mr James abandoned the Isuzu vehicle in a public area of Khon Kaen province. He then attempted to conceal his movements and change his method of escape. Police believe this was done to avoid detection as the search intensified.

Local police units in Khon Kaen and surrounding provinces set up checkpoints and roadblocks on key routes. Officers also continued to examine CCTV footage in detail to reconstruct the suspect’s movements and locate him as quickly as possible. Public safety warnings were issued due to reports that the suspect was armed.

At around 3.30pm on 27 January, Khon Kaen City Police located the abandoned pickup near Mittraphap Road, close to Sirikit Heart Centre at Srinagarind Hospital. Investigators tracked the suspect to a hotel near Bueng Kaen Nakhon, where officers surrounded the building and arrested him in his room.

Earlier on the same day, the Phayakkhaphum Phisai Police Station Facebook page warned residents about the suspect, describing him as a foreign national driving a white Isuzu four-door vehicle with Chonburi registration plates. The public was urged to remain vigilant and report sightings via the emergency number 191.

Another Facebook page, “Jae Moi v+”, also shared warnings, identifying the suspect and stating that he was carrying a handgun. The page reported that he had fled towards Mueang Mahasarakham shortly after the shooting. Khoasod later reported that police confirmed that Mr Anthony James Condron had been arrested. Further updates are expected following formal questioning and legal proceedings.

Ops! A foreigner has made a mess again! Think if we just could get rid of these kinds of morons in Thailand. it´s amazing how hard some people have to understand reality. If things doesn´t work out, does not mean a person has to kill the other one. They have created a simple thing called separation and divorce for such circumstances. as we can see, this guy was a total zero. Now he has created a really good life for himself. Probably was thinking, I shoot her and the children are mine. Idiot!

I thought .38s were wheel guns, so how was a casing found?

Any action by a British person good or bad somehow ends up tarnishing the image of every foreigner in this place. He’s not Chinese. He’s not Russian. He’s not German. He’s not a Yank. But of course, He’s a Brit.

Indeed, it's all relative 👍

Throw away the key !

He was seemingly an a**hole before this happened and would regularly be shouting at neighbours and threatening them like he was some mafia boss .

He tried to say the gun went off by accident , twice 🙄 . Fact that he told her to come there and then went and got the gun before she was shot dead would put him up for premeditated murder I would think.

Criminal record? Car accident? I must be a criminal then!

If true then Mr Condron may have a long time in which to regret his actions, but probably not long enough.

I played golf with this guy a few weeks ago.

He was a regular member of our Khon Kaen Expats golf society and was not particularly well liked as he was very loud and vociferous on the course.

I had quite a long conversation with him after the round as he originated from South East London and knew my home town in Kent quite well.

We always thought he was a volatile person but didn’t think he was capable of murder!

Why Thai cops protect this guy from accidentally hitting his head? Do they think he could sue them 🤣

Rational people who have possession of their mind, senses, and emotions discuss things, try to work them out, and if they can't be worked out they simply wish each other good fortune and go their separate ways.

I guess some people just can't handle rejection, can't handle the fact that things haven't worked out, and act out in an insane and pathological manner.

The guy was pushed too far. He reacted. A foreigner having a gun in Thailand is a bad idea. If you're in a situation where you feel you need one, it would be best to change the situation.
