The bars in Chiang Mai and Udon are so different. You never see this.

True. They stab you and shoot you on Soi Sampan in Udon Thani.

Sometimes a beating is needed to teach people right from wrong. The West's answer to disrespectful behaviour is a slap on the wrist, this doesn't work.

Typical Thai fighting... many to one. THais can't fight man to man it is always 2 , 3 or more against one victim. And this dispute could not be fixed by talking?? Violence is normal in land of smiles.

You're preaching to the wrong person, Pastor. Are you one of those Jehovah's Witnesses who knocked on my door on the weekend?

Often is. Can't hold their drink or fight.

This guy was doing good, 4 guys couldn't keep him down.

...and then there were five.

In my big boozing days I always had the bin for every drink placed into a small container on the table. I used to check them every time I ordered a new drink so making sure I didn't spend more than I had in my pocket. I've never had a problem in 25 years. Being well behaved and not a dick head also helps.

They should just shut down Soi 6, it's full of the lowest dreggs of society, foreign and Thai's.

Absolutely, brothels should be eradicated and family entertainment (Disney, Universal, etc) projects be initiated. But sadly T.I.T.

Electric shock collar

as used to train dogs

works best.

Muay thai is mostly kicking and knees.

Real kickboxers and other martial arts are not allowed to use in daily life....Maybe you can check that out...Thai people are very violent.. They smile but that is to hide their real anger

Who says that throwing in a bit of martial arts and pugilism isn't allowed "in daily life"?

Thai people aren't very violent or hiding anger behind a smile. Utter balderdash and twaddle.

Absolutely are not used by anyone half decent to train a dog.

But I agree that they should be mandatory for the shirtless, brain-dead, drunk and stupid muppetry that blight this fair land.

How come they never attack me?

Says who? Its pretty lame

Most plausable scenario is probably a padded bill that the tourist disputed, then the goons got rough. Basic bar rules 101 include not running a bill and having lots of 100 baht notes with you when you go out and paying for each drink as you go... also a good denomination of note for tips or putting in girls G-strings without spending too much, most useful note by far.

A jealous German guy stabbed his girlfriend to death in a bar on the Soi.

More recently, some foreign drug dealers got the guns out over who's patch was being encroached on.

I also recall a foreign bar owner was murdered and robbed in his home. Didn't happen on the soi, so maybe doesn't count.

Ok fair enough. It looks quiet to me.

Putting tips in girls G-strings? On Soi 6? Really? Where?

Wrong.

Ubiquitous in field trials dog training.

This is about the only decent post in this whole whiny, stupid thread...

I am sure the guy was given many chances to pay..

.And even if he could not pay right then the bar would have worked something out...

No doubt the guy became very nasty and abusive and then tried to do a runner while also assailing the guards.

He got what he deserved...

I agree. They would find a solution about the bill. This foreigner took a run and paid for that.

This kind of things don't happen to customers who pay their bills and being nice and polite.

You don't think it's working in Wadeye in Australia??

Who started fighting first the thieving customer or the security guards?

Looks like those 'security' guards just came off the stage in a Boyz Town agogo bar, the way they were kicking the fella 😏

Incahol started the fight.

It's always incahol.

Anything else is irrelevant.🙃🙃

Well that doesn't matter

What matters is the violence

This poor man regardless if he was the instigator probably now has PTSD

He should be receiving correction and behaviour modification counselling not violence

I agree with Fat Fred wiggy that all they had to do was speak to him in a calm way explaining to him that what he was doing was not socially correct

Yes definitely

Alcohol is the scourge of society

I often wonder if religion such as Islam have a purpose to this ,

Nonsense. Knowing the initial aggressor is not irrelevant.

'Oh, please'...why?

Life experience that's why

If I had been there I would have stopped those guards from doing that and assisted the man who may have problems in life

I would have explained calmly and patiently to him that he needs to use his behaviour modification skills
