Facebook problem

Featured Replies

I really dunno where to begin. My daughter has a problem involving someone using her picture as their own. Anyway, someone is using her picture as their own under the name of 'Yrita Samak'.

My daughter does not post on 'Facebook' but does post on TikTok. Her TikTok account has her having 364,000 followers.

I don't really understand all this 'Facebook' crap and I'm concerened that someone is pretending to be my daughter. Any help will be appreciated.

I just looked at the Facebook account, Yrita Samak. That person has several videos. Many others have had similar problems and they have tried reporting it to Facebook. Doesn't sound like many have had luck regards a positive outcome.

Facebook has an option to report fake profiles, but they never remove the accounts. You just get an auto note saying the account does not contravene their policies.

I've heard of organisations that can help get an account closed, but no personal experience.

Unfortunately Facebook is like the Wild West with scammers and thieves working with zero consequences.

So those videos on that Facebook account that are clearly the same person as shown in the profile photo are videos of your daughter, yes?

Did your daughter voluntarily put photos of herself (that the entire internet has access to) on the internet?

I also use a photo of someone else as my Facebook profile photo.

Stops bots matching your account with facial recognition.

I also use a photo of my former bosses ex-wife as my AN avatar.

It's no big deal IMHO and makes social media much safer for posters.

My daughter never put photo's on 'Facebook'. Only photo's were /are put on TikTok

Why would you put the name of the FB account using your daughter’s photo and videos ??

Seems like you have just invited a bunch of old foreigners to look at photos and videos of your daughter ??

I notice the person managing the site with the stolen images is based in Thailand and the page includes a phone number, address and email. The Thai computer crimes act is pretty wide ranging, maybe you could report the person to the Police.

My wife has tried that. Unfortunately they said they weren't clever enough and brushed her off. 🤥

You can complain to Facebook but they seem to make money off the scammers so don’t really care. I report lots of fake ads normally using Australians of status promoting schemes they would never touch. Sometimes they remove them sometimes they tell me they think I’ve made a mistake. The latest one I reported was an AI picture of former Prime Minister Howard promoting a retirement scam. Facebook told me I was wrong! Goodluck getting any action from Facebook!

Report it to Facebook – it actually works – click on the ... by the profile picture, then as manu shows where you can report fake profiles, stolen photo etc.

Your boss was married to Billie Piper?

Chris Evans or Laurence Fox?

You and your daughter (I don't know how old she is) should report this to the police, as it violates Thai computer law. You should also hire a lawyer to take this woman/man to court for copyright infringement of your daughter's photos.

News flash ..... once you post any photo on any platform it can be copied and re-purposed.

News flash! I'm very well aware of that but how is that relevant to the question I asked him to which he responded in the affirmative?
