Why not finally play it straight ? Stop calling it a "quality-family-high class resort". Plainly admit it's the world's largent open air brothel and that's it.

If they did that, they could legitimately claim to be the hub of something.

  • Urban myth. There is zero prostitution in Pattaya. This has been proven by local authorities there on many occasions.

Well proves what has been said for years about Pattaya and when a sex incident

Happens on the beach there is uproar by the the Thai authorities on ruining the high Tourist reputation of this fine city

People need to get a life Pattaya has always been know worldwide as a sex city

That's why people come plus visit the beaches and other things like Temples ect

Incredibly, these establishments offer services at prices as low as £12. I

21 hours ago, Terrance8812 said:

Really? Where? That sounds like prices from 20 years ago.

Twelve UK pounds is roughly 500 baht. The original article says services are available in bj bars for £12, which is indeed possible in some bars today.

And yet millions of people visit, enjoy the beaches, great food, see some sights and have a good time.

Who cares, some Western society trying to bully others and tell people how to live their lives, no thanks all good.

Are you going to start crying as you often do? So when are you heading to Pattaya again yourself to enjoy those pillars of Thai culture there?

I think he was being ironic. Maybe? But I don't follow Asean Now, so I wouldn't know.

You're offended by the truth?!?!
Prostitution existed in Thailand long before foreign visitors started coming in any numbers.

Entering Pattaya now to enjoy exactly that for Valentine’s Day.

It's lasted over 60 years.

But prostitution is much older and more established in Thailand than the tourist sex trade. It is a pillar of Thai culture.

The vast majority of Thais have nothing to do with Pattaya or such things, it more like a pillar of your own culture and private experience due to the circles you mix with.

So why are you going to Pattaya? Chiang Mai or Khon Kaen is where you should be going.

Not here, please.

Anywhere but in my back yard.

So, you pay your wife 10 000 Baht a month as a basic salary and you also pay her every time you bang her ?

It's what child care costs these days.

And unlike you, I'm too lazy to raise my son on my own.

Barcelona? I was there recently. Saw nothing like it. Maybe you mean Berlin or Hamburg. Germany has the most prostitution in Europe, where it's legal.

Wonder how it compares with the Philippines. Ets face it prostitute is the oldest business going. Hell even Muslim countries have it.

My sons Grandmother assists for free , she doesn't charge 20 000 Baht like your sons grandmother

I don't bang my son's grandmother.

Beaches of spain was a clean sewer as well back in the days, and they recovered, so anything is possible.

Everyone I know, loves Hua Hin, and I didnt really thought it was that great when I lived there, but to my friends it was a nice change from every other destination they knew, and not to forget exotic. Location is everything, and Pattaya do have the perfect location, and got the infrastructure needed. Just need to clean up the a bit,

Hua hin beaches with horses and touts, expensive sea food, and traffic worse than Bangkok

What do you pay your wife/ sons grandmother the extra10 000 Baht for then ?

I believe Pattaya would flourish without the sex trade. It is one hour from bangkok and 45 minutes from Suvarnabhumi on a good day, and honestly many do not visit Pattaya because of its reputation!

So if Pattaya clean up, it will be a great destination for many more who have money to spend on everything else than a ST.

Nailed it. I couldn't agree more. Pattaya would absolutely thrive even more than now without the sex trade. We are seeing lots of signs of it already, as much of the tourism is moving away from it. One only needs to look at where all the new development is going--and it is not in the 'sex trade' areas of the city.

Massive development is happening in the northern part of Pattaya Beach--with T21, Centre Point Resort, Centre Point Space Resort, Centre Point 3 Resort now under construction, new luxury condos Arom and Once, new hotels, the big redevelopment of the large tracts of land by the circle, Again Pattaya, with lots of new retail. Centara Resort just had a big makeover. Riviera has launched what it has billed as the most expensively-priced condo project ever built in Pattaya, on a prime tract of beachfront land in Wong Amat.

The Aquatique project is getting ready to launch, which will add a luxury hotel, entertainment, and retail, to start. In Jomtien, a number of major new condo projects have been done, with several more under construction or about to be launched. Cosy Beach is also getting new retail, including a big, new grocery store.

On the Darkside, you can easily lose track of the number of new housing projects that have been built in the past few years, with more under construction and being planned. While once the Darkside meant, with some exceptions, mostly inexpensive housing, now you're seeing many housing projects with homes in the 10MB to 40MB range--with some much higher.

Pattaya is growing massively, with very little of what's new pegged to the sex trade. Rather, just the opposite, with new water parks, new go-cart track, Columbia Pictures Aquaverse, Tiger Park, and many other attractions geared to families. Several new golf courses opened in 2018 and 2020, to add to the ones Pattaya already has. Highgate, a new private school, opens this year, to add to the 20-some private schools available to families moving here.

Rugby International School, in addition to the private school, has wellness features in its Wisdom Fit program, along with several housing projects on the massive campus, billed as the largest in Thailand. You're seeing very large investments like this from private industry all over Pattaya. Each one moves Pattaya in a new, positive direction. Bodes well for the future.

As for the thread, it read like something a C- student might have come up with while mostly playing video games at the same time. Pity the dog didn't eat the homework. While being woefully out-of-date, it also managed not a single nod to how Pattaya is changing before our eyes.

Really I though that might be Amsterdam or Hamburg?

But in reality there are many.

Singling out Pattaya show a distinct lack of worldly knowledge.🤔

Why don't they distribute it across different parts of the country instead of putting all the eggs in one basket in Pattaya?

If sex tourists stop visiting, the economy of Pattaya takes a beating.

It's not a resilient business model for a city, if you ask me.

As well, they only talk about the sex trade which is aimed at foreigners. The sex trade targeting farangs is a fraction of the total Thai-2-Thai P4P throughout the country outside of the tourist areas. And by the way, the prices are even cheaper. thumbsup <wink wink>

However, their journey faced hurdles. Malee opened up about the complexities of balancing personal relationships within her line of work. Despite the potential move and cultural affinity, challenges remained.

In the Thai-2-Thai P4P arena, a lot of the sex-workers won't service farangs or foreigners. They'll even have badges, "Lady with purple badge no go with farang, only Thai. You pick lady with pink badge, OK!"

That's a bit over the top, but His Hin is a popular choice among my circle, compared to Pattaya. Can not compare to Bangkok. Neither traffic or pollution at the worst. Not really expensive either if you know where to go

some people leave hua hin because they find it too boring and sedate and need a bit more liveliness like what pattaya offers.

its only fair that the girls can pick and choose

in bangkok there were some who only catered for japanese , there were clubs around patpong who would only admit Japanese

hua hin is pretty grim , its like a huge (gated) old peoples home for people who have forgotten how to enjoy themselves ( assuming they ever knew)

Its morbid neighbour Cha-am is as much fun as a hospice
