Driving Licence Renewal using an agent

It's worth mentioning that if you don't have a motorbike license from your own country, but want one in Thailand, you also need to take a written test at the scene (not online), where a minimum of 45 out of 50 questions must be correct.

I did that with Tiktok services in Jomtien in October, at Banglamung. 48 correct answers first time, paid 6000 baht for both car and motorbike. All I had to bring was my (Norwegian) passport and original license for car, including international driver's licence. I was picked up at my condo. No medicals, COR or any of that.

Convenient for people who don't want to scratch their heads too much, and want a smooth experience. Of course, you can use other agents, and pay extra so you can skip that test too, like with Mark at soi 6 (One Stop visa).

But I can recommend Tiktok services.

I did exactly this with TikTok also. Highly recommend them.

is it necessary to own a car in order to renew a licence? I don't think so , just get yourself down to the nearest DLT office and save the agents fee Rules have changed , you'll need to watch a vid

I really don't see why anyone would need an agent for a renewal. I did mine last year. Did the online video, went to the office, got my blood pressure checked, did the color test, I had trouble with t

It's also worth mentioning that you will need to pass the actual practical motorcycle driving test too,

you can bring your own or borrow/hire one from someone else doing the set on the day.

True, but that was really a joke. The one who approved it, didn't even watch my driving (one round around the simplest of courses). He was occupied signing the previous driver's approval, while the next driver were doing their "run". And so on. I can't imagine anyone would flunk that test, ever.

The written test on the other hand, was tricky. Had to really study for that one. Some similar looking choice of answers, with the English language not at its best, and with 44 correct answers or less you would have to book a new appointment.

Well I saw someone who went round the course too quickly told to come back tomorrow

and someone trying to reverse into the car parking spot take about 100 attempts until the examiner came out of the booth and told them to proceed to the final obstacle ..I think he failed the candidate but not sure.

And yes the computerised theory test is much more of a problem because quite a few of the 'correct' answers are totally contradictory to common sense and or have multiple iterations..I'm convinced it presented me the questions I answered wrong at least 2 times..multiplying the wrong answer count its a tricky bugger.

What I (and you) discussed and commented on, was the motorbike driving test, for those who haven't got a motorbike license from their home country. That test is ridiculously easy, and was not even watched or supervised when I did it at Banglamung. A man was only standing there, signing approvement papers in the middle of the track, half way.. It really was a joke. Maybe it's different at other offices though.

No need for a car driving test (or a motorbike test) if you are converting your valid licence from your home country, into a Thai driver's licence. Not needed if you are renewing your existing Thai licence either.

If you don't have a valid licence for car in the first place, that's a different matter, and not mentioned in this thread.

Last time I renewed my Driver's license I had to watch a traffic movie, take a picture, check my reaction and a few other things.
Can't see how you can do this without being present, but the rules might have changed in the past 3 years.

Yes, even with an agent helping this is necessary. If not, and the starting point was a Facebook advert, I would be more wary,

Get a Medical Cert

Is there a form to download or will hospitals/clinics have one?

There is a standard format for it which all clinics will have.

It might be possible to renew your driver's license online if you are younger than 50 or 55 but I'm not sure.

No, not yet. There is only a plan to allow this starting mid of this year.

That would be nice but there are many plans in Thailand; Some actually become reality, some are hit with a U-turn and some are never talked about again.

Where can one find the standard form to fill for renewal please ? and would there be one in both english/thai ?

Here's one, but in multiple renewals I don't actually recall ever filling it in (maybe they did it and I signed it).

I had heard of this but thought it only for Thais.
