Bank Statement Chiang Mai Immigration

Featured Replies

Yesterday I stopped by Chiang Mai Immigration to pick up directions and forms for a Visa extension based on marriage. The directions now state; " Bank certificate, [not longer than 7 days] bank statement and updated bank book...." When I read this I think I can now go the day before to get the necessary bank statements and certificate. In the past I had to go the same day which always made the day a bit crazy. Can anyone confirm this or have I misunderstood the directions. Thank you.

I've always gone the day before to the bank, never had a problem.

As far as I'm aware Buriram IMM always insist on the bank letter on same day as renewal. Not really a problem.

No problems 4 months back.

Bank Statements and Bank Letter are valid for 7 days.

Most "normal" Immigration offices allow you to obtain these prior to day of application.

Sadly some offices play with their own deck and require those items to be obtained day of application. Ridiculous.

The bank book only needs to be updated on the same day, as far as I know.

Letter and 12 month statement can be from the day before.

For most offices the letter and statement up to 7 days previous.

Sadly some rogue offices require them same day as application which is outrageous

I have had the crazy day experience at Chaeng Wattana for at least the last 6 years where they would NOT accept statements printed the day before even when the balance matched a bank balance slip printed on the day. No, they need statements up to & including the date of application which can only be achieved by going to the bank first before applying.

When the SCB branch in the Govt Center closed, I started keeping a record of the time since there isn't much else to do. There is a branch nearby that opens at 08.30 that makes the day not impossible!

2024 2025 2026

Outside SCB 07.30 08.05 08.10

Enter SCB 08.30* 08.30* 08.30* * 1st in queue

Leave SCB 08.50 08.45 08.42

Arrive CW 09.00 08.55 08.56

Queue number 32 33 37** ** also got on line appt @ 10.00

CW check docs 10.35 10.58 10.20 ** lose on line ap to agent pushing in

Submit docs - start 10.50 11.20 10.46

All docs with them now 11.00 11.35 11.30# # copy on lineTM30 rqd unavailable

Docs returned done 11.45 13.30 13.45 to me but they could find it online

They insist on bank statements throughout the whole year which I don't think is a standard requirement but if they think is it is important, I make it as easy for them as possible.

Why is my experience polar opposite at CW.

Every year I obtain 12 month bank statement + Bank Letter days prior to application.

Update yes required on day of application.

Many reports mirror my experience.

Don't understand your report as it's against all other experiences

Chiang Rai used to give you 7 days.

For the last several years though, it's been the same day, which is mildly annoying to say the least.

Understatement.

No need for it letter and statement same day.

It's almost seems a request just to make things difficult.

Sadly.... when in Rome...

Bankletter and statement are good for 7 days, transfer small amount in your account on the day you go immigration, make update bankbook and copy before you go.

anyone ever used Prachinburi Immigration for Marriage or retierment visas ??????

Sad fact is some immigration offices insist on Bank Statement and Bank Letter same day as application.

Make it difficult just because they can

That's a quiet office. Best to ask office.

What exactly are you wanting to to.

Obtain Non O at immigration or annual extension. What exactly

This is Chiang Mai IO and not Buriram. I got my letter done the day before I went to the office in CM - no a problem

and I did my extension of the 11th inst. at CM with statement 7 days b4 and letter on day due to lack of planning on my part.
Normally I ask for the statement 3-4 weeks b4 hand and the letter 7 days,

cheersD

Where I live, we have had this demand for over 2 years already.
I always go to the bank to arrange for this in the morning and to the Immigration in the afternoon the same day.

Not certain yet im away in Europe from April until September Can make a marriage visa but its a total pain , could make a Retirement again it is the easy option but i dont like keeping 800k in Thai bank when i could be in my stock portfolio earning ,, Making a tourist visa in UK is for anything longer than 90 days is now a hassle with the new system .. i will probably do the marry visa again but it wastes a whole week with all the police hassle de;ays and inspections ,, i will stay from September26 until march 27

Many years in Khon Kaen it was ok with all the stuff from the day before. Some two years ago I was asked to update bank book on day of application. That's not a big deal.

With staying in Thailand 6 months per year ongoing either extensions marriage or retirement best option.

To avoid funds maintained in Thai bank year round you could consider agent or income method.

I still own property in Thailand and have been married to my Thai wife for 28 years . I reckon the retirement visa will be most sensible as I wont have to involve my wife and once the money is seasoned for 3 months it can go back in Stock market ,But i will have to get an O visa in UK before i come back in September .

The financial requirements for 12 month extension is 800k for 2 months prior to application maintained for 3 months after and not below 400k in other months.

yeah thats what I dont like about that method its losing me money ,, but it is the simplest ,,,dont need to involve wife or agent can DIY so long as i take a tranqeliser when dealing with all the paperwork and runaround LOL

Thinking everyone retirement extensions using money in bank method is aware of the opportunity cost of having funds tied into a Thai bank account.

Keep posting ways to live in Thailand for 6 months the answers will be the same.

I use income method and use those funds to live off.

Jack the income method is nice and would suit me fine , but i have such a complex varied income from multiple sources 3 pensions , plus other income from dividends and when i showed it to Thai immigration in pattaya or london embassy they would not process it even though it was over 150k baht a month on average ... When they dont see something simple they always say No

In my case... Being Oz, I don't have embassy letter.

I have rental investments etc.

They are consolidated into my Oz bank account.

On the 14th of every month I transfer a set amount to my Kasikorn account using WISE. Instant transfer.

Obviously more than 65k.

I ask Kasikorn for 12 month bank statement to be in Thai language and as a result the highlighted monthly transfers have Thai script basically indicating "money from abroad"

Fortunately CW does not want to see proof of pension. Nor should they.

It's income method.
