The Hit And Run Restaurant "review" Thread

Sorry I should have said Jomtien Beach Rd.  Aeras is pretty close to completion for those of us who live nearby.  Soi 17 is the nearest cross rd and the restaurant is next to a 7 eleven.

Great. Any info on working hours? Would hate to schlep out there on their day off.

Went to Bon Cafe this morning for breakfast.  I have eaten lunch there but not breakfast.

The American breakfast is 170 b. Seems a little pricey maybe.

It is 2 eggs, 2 ham, 2 bacon, one sausage, toast, jam, butter.  It is clean well prepared food.

Now what I like is the OJ and coffee.  The OJ is fresh squeezed not that stuff from a box.  The coffee is strong fresh grind brew, not instant.  I figure the coffee and juice are worth the 70 b.  So, 100 b for the rest is not terrible.

Anyway, the place is quiet, free wifi and they have early newspapers to read.

If you want pricey the Coffee Club is nearby. Does anyone eat there and is the food worth the money?

Over here in the U.S, I'd just get a foot-long 400g loaf of fresh French bread and a dozen large eggs for 70 Baht (65 if the eggs are on sale) and make something at home.

Of course, after I added cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onion And various hot sauces, I'd be way up there.

A New Orleans food restaurant sounds quite exciting. Thanks for the news.

However, I'm unclear on the location. Any close landmark of something that does exist that I could search on? Thanks.

As I have seen posted on this thread, you now understand why a Google map location or any GPS location is useful :-)

Download the Eatigo app and you'll get up to 50% discount at Coffee Club , only reason I eat there,  The 50% discount is only given late at night, during day time around 20-30% discount.  Yes their food is overpriced so wouldn't eat there without the discount.

I was thinking more as a breakfast option but thanks fo the info. I will give them a try one day. I would expect good quality and going off the menu the food looks tempting.

Just as an aside, they have Spanish Omlette on the menu and I beleive someone on here (JT?) was looking for this in Pattaya. Has green peppers and potato inside, but I don't know if it is authentic. Also served with balsamic vinegar tomatoes. Well over 200 Baht.

They have a decent Spanish Omelette at Patini's on Soi Bouikiow, if you can endure the stench getting there. Nice AC setting but with a bit too much noise. God Bless You and OO.

From past experience it makes no difference whatsoever.

The same people over and over again, need to be lead by the hand to a new restaurant.

I presume you are referring to Cafe Pitini ?

I might call attn to the Dining Out section in the Pattaya Mail.

Certainly worth reading but Miss Terry Diner never seems to find anything wrong at all with any restaurant she visits. So I am not convinced that these reviews are not really advertorials.

I prefer to read a reviewer who pays for their own meal, eats unannounced and reports exactly what they find.

Pitini's is a reliable harbour in an erratic ocean. They dont do anything very original or exciting but what they do they do well.

Popped in for the first time today and had the daily special of fish and chips. It was underwhelming but only 145 Baht. Fish was not firm and batter was soggy. Chips were sparse and below average . I would happily pay more for better quality.

Apple, cinnamon and raisin pie was good for 90 Baht. Nice tea, big mug for 50 Baht. Service was OK. Not a standout for me overall.

Perhaps that is the exception that proves the rule? When I buy UK style fish and chips I always get it from a specialist fryer. I find it's not the sort of thing that regular restaurants are very successful at. And the exception to that rule would be Sizzler's fried fish which is breaded and not battered and so doesnt count. I regularly have that for lunch with their salad bar. Remove half the breaded coating and it's not bad at all.

I suggest you try Patini's again and perhaps have the liver and onions which is very good. Cottage pie also very nice, and the mid-week roast is good too. Chicken Kiev was good too but I've not had it there for ages.

Fair point, KK, about fish and chips. I will try a roast dinner next time.

Don't bother with their Sunday lunch.... it's awful. Do your self a favour and go further down Boukheaw to Nickys. Far superior.

Not sure if this place has been mentioned before:

Turkish Kebab on the corner on South Pattaya Road & 2nd Road, well almost on the corner, walk app 5-10 meters down South P Road and you are there.

Easily the best kebab I ever had in Pattaya and the mixed meat one for 140 baht is a steal considered how big it is. Had one for lunch twice now and I enjoyed them each time.

Very small place, perhaps 5 tables inside, staff only Turkish guys, no Thais the 2 times I was there.

Lots of Turkish customers on each visit, which is a good sign.

Highly recommended.

Nothing better than any other kebab in town, but yes its good.

And it's the only one that looks clean and that has aircon inside.

They also have the kebab plate which is a lot nice to eat when eating there.

FYI, Jolly Friar on Soi LengKee has always offered the choice of battered or breaded for their fish dishes.

You can be critical without defaming anyone. But Miss Terry Diner doesnt even try: it's all perfect.

As far as I'm concerned it's impossible to do a proper review if you have been invited to a place by the owner and the meal is provided for free. Proper reviews can only be done by those who arrive unannounced and pay for their own meal, not by freebie-seekers.

It is my understanding the reviewers go unannounced and pay for their meals. Defamation laws in Thailand are unreal and the Pattaya Mail cannot afford lawsuits.

Your understanding is totally wrong.
