thought it was a School holiday today and tomorrow?

Tomorrow the 5th only.

We had to stay till 4p.m. at school and from 3 to 4p.m. we honoured the King. Department Heads offered silver and gold colours, the colours of metals befitting a King. Prayers were said and songs sung and candles lit. A photo opportunity for all involved. I was reminded that we have work Friday and not to be off, when I inadvertenly said "See you all on Monday",, me subconciously thinking today is Friday.

We wrote our wishes in books to the King on this special occasion, for a long life and good health, long live the King.

I guess it was up to the discretion of the individual schools, I am at a college in Kalasin.

Constitution Day is on the 10th Tuesday and another school holiday.

We were driving home from Buriram last week and not for the first time seen a school truck going the other way with about twenty kids sitting on the roof twelve foot above the ground, all it would take was for the driver to break hard and they would've all ended up on the road. Thing that gets me is the school must be allowing this to happen to everyday.

I wonder if the parents have any say in the matter, most do not bleeding care or they would not let the kid ride on the TOP.

probably talking on the mobile phone instead of watching where he was going, it seems a national pass time over here. Its way passed time mobiles were banned while driving and riding but I think it already is just everyone ignores the law and the police wouldnt work in an iron lung to enforce it, I suppose it is one way to keep the population in check.......

There's a thing I don't understand, Thai parents will hand their 10 year olds the motorbike keys, let them ride dangerously on school buses, then stand up and give 5 year olds their seats on the skytrain etc.

Can I ask what this "Mr." thing is about?

Until the age of majority, in English language, a young male is a 'Master'.

Thank you.

And what is the abbreviation for Master, oh Master of things British?

Thank you.

Mon.

AGAIN, It never stops. Road carnage is one of the most serious issues in this society and over decades nothing is or has been done to minimize this problem.

I may be right but will no doubt be shot down in flames if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a directive that all ' buses ' had to be fitted with seat belts from this year ? I wonder how the operators of school buses will figure that one out or are school buses exempt from any regulations ? Judging by the way they pack the kids into the cab alongside the driver and also allow them to sit on the roof and hang out the back of the bus, I don't think anyone really cares.......until there's an accident of course.

The cattle are clearly visible in these pictures.

The cattle look happy enough.

At least they are smiling.

Either driver do a runner?

"The water truck driver was sent to Klongluang hospital,"

"...the school bus driver was stuck in the bus."

Clearer now?:

Think one stuck in the vehicle, one had a broken arm, could have run but not many that are stuck inside /and or/ have a broken arm would not feel like fleeing the scene. both were taken to hospital. (although it is usual for at least one to flee)whistling.gif

Sorry ratcatcher I was editing when I saw your reply.

It doesn't look like a bus. The title is misleading. Even Thais don't call it a bus. It is a big "Songtaew". I am not sure about the spelling. They seem to be cheap and practical all over the place in Thailand. The way these things are built and the way they carry people, seat belts would be pain in the neck for those who control them. It's so sad to see that the safety on the roads is completely ignored in Thailand and nobody gives a toss!
