So riding the mighty Lifan DS out to KMK today.

Boots, kneepads, camo &c; ... road warrior look.

Found the soi blocked for construction at Sukumvit.

Naturally papa rode up to checkout.

About 7 workers were breaking in the shade

including some cuties.

So after a few smiles and howdy-dos;

to the skeptical  bossmen,

papa indicated desire to ride right thru the rubble

instead of 1 km detour.

Eventually he waved me through.

Makkrap.

Zoom.

[The Lifan is loud.]

They prolly like

Whaaa ta eff.?

Thinking about replacing the carb,

maybe 20 years old.

Took her back in Sat. and

thru translate app

suggested new carb.

Shop busy so left her until this AM.

Seems like one problem was from too much resistance at the air cleaner.

Sans filter ... runs good.

With the older filter

[which had been soap & water-washed numerous times]

she wouldn't rap out.  Binned.

One purchased last week works fine.

????

Oh, How much shop charge?

0

Free.

Got out to ride 15km loop

*1*2*3*16*14*10*21*9

this AM.

Definitely no dust around.

Erosion; deposition.

Trail = stream for a couple hundred yards.

Climber is running good;

papa running decent enough

considering.

Posted

Erosion has been wreaking havoc on certain section of trails.

Gullies washed in that are deep and narrow

such that bikes cant fit thru,

foot-pegs dragging.

Also trees down.

Kicking papa's asss.

KMK

Trails are in bad shape.
Worst in the 5 years of riding there.
Rains have gulled many spots pretty bad,
& some downfalls.
Have been riding only EZ trails for a while.
Last Fri., went to ride Climber and noticed
 a broken brake line
-from rear res to master cylinder.
It took the shop a few day to get parts
& get her fitted back together.
[30-y/o system.]
OK now.  B550.
Today dropped her off to have new
neoprene front-fork gators installed.
Old ones are ragged.
It’s a dirty world.

i think it should be a criminal offence to use the word "mighty" and "Lifan" in the same sentence - As should posting like you're some 14 year old kid who rides on his skateboard everywhere and listens to the Beastie Boys .....

KMK report:

Was able to do the 15km loop yesty

for the first time in a 1.5 months.

The running club have done great job of clearing the many downfalls &c.

Thanks fellows.

Sunny cooler days lately,

great riding.

KMK.  Attacked by wild animal, &c.

So beauteous cool AM ride started well, but
at about a mile on trail
a bug flew into right ear.
Head shaking & striking failed to dislodge it.
Scratching on the eardrum producing nasty sounds.
Intermittent pain,
like it is biting in there.
A little panicky, so
back to base camp.
The lady poured some water in.
Shaking head & more striking did not dislodge wee beastie.
Repeat,... nada.
On third rinse, a Thai guy was able to flip the thing out
onto the floor.
Little 1cm winged insect.
It seemed fine.
///////
Back out onto trail.
Stopped in a meadow to pee and
saw a cool little snake.
About a yard + long and
skinny like a pencil.
 Greenish brown.
/////////
Further down the trail on the rough narrow farm road,
came head-on to a herd of maybe 20 buffalo,
driven by a Thai couple.
Pulled over and killed engine to let them pass.
Nit noi scary for man & beast.

Was on my H2 many moons ago

Got hit in the soft area of throat where the collarbones join.

Rock ? Bug ? Who knows.

Couple miles down the road the stinging starts. Trying to slap my chest with left hand while trying to stop with my right.

Pulled over and crushed a wasp or hornet. Was stunned by the impact and dropped down inside my T shirt. Came to Peed off.

Took 3-4 days for the swelling to go down

555

Seedy i have had the very same experience stung in the corner of the eye and then stunned drooped into my shirt and then stung me repeatedly all over my  left side chest area. Sure glad I wasn't allergic as it was it really threw me for a loop with that amount of poison in my system. I had a swollen hard chest when I got home 30 min later took days to subside. although it was only the first 20 minuets of intense burning sensation then down to a dull roar 555. I have always regardless of the heat always done up thy shirt collar to the neck since then.

Last report for 2021;

Dec. recap.

Cooler Wx. makes for sweet riding.

//////

Met a new friend, coconut grower

living out there in the grove.

Sketchy English but fun guy.

Free nuts when papa stops.

He is 82 but looks 62..

////////

Trails are in good shape, except Monday.

Going down narrowest trail

encountered recently tree x the path..

Basically in a trench, no room to turn bike around,

despite trying.

Then tried pushing backwards,

uphill, but unable.

Finally one more herculean effort was able to 180º

and ride out, exhausted.

Enduro.

There is  a little shack/house near the trail entrance.

Sometimes papa drops off fruit as a gift.

Oranges for the kids & old folks.

Today found the house burned down.

The old guy sitting around looking stunned.

Gave hin B500.

Years back, on tour,

stopped to admire the view,

inadvertently standing on ant nest.

Locals found the spectical of a farang--

stripping down, cursing &c.--

    most amusing.

Been there, done that as a young man.  One was the red leaf-roller ants up in a mango tree.  The other was big black ants way up in a tall coconut tree.  I stopped climbing trees at that point.  Locals loved the side show.
