CHIANG MAI: -- Police were called to an intersection in Chiang Mai yesterday after a Portuguese tourist caused trouble in a convenience store then started exposing himself to passersby.

After a brief chase the bare chested foreigner was apprehended and taken to the Phu Ping police station, reported Daily News.

Selma Marquez, 29, had started smashing things up at the store then wandered around the neighborhood exposing himself and causing some fear and consternation amongst the locals.

Marquez blamed the heat and feeling frustrated at not being able to get a cool drink in the very hot weather.

He was detained ahead of prosecution according to the law.

Daily News did not report what he was charged with.

Not sure the B.I.B. are going to buy that excuse, unless money changes hands, of course !

Not being able to get a cold drink, e was in a convenience store.

A place that always sells cold drinks   also exposing himself, bloody moron.

I'd go crazy too if my parents named me Selma.

I have heard the bar scene in CM is not top shelf, but hard to believe he couldn't score a single cool drink.

Well, it sure sounds as if the brownies had come up with an 'explanation' like that - of course someone higher up in the ranks ... wouldn't be a first, at all ...!

Charged with the 'dick trick' in public.

Must have a mental disorder ......could be expelled!

He could have gotten his willy sunburnt, then he would have something

to kick off about, suspect chemicals or mental disorder, ship him back

to Portugal.     PS could not find a 7-11, they are on nearly every road.

He may be on a portuguese passport but with that name Selma ( which is actually a ladies name ) he sounds more like a Brazilian with dual nationality than anything else ( unless they spelt it wrong )

It seems he is accustomed to Thai manners very well. Find an excuse for bad behavior and you get away with it.

I do not know where the nationality of the person come from but a) the name is from a woman B) is Hispanic as Portuguese do not use Z but Marques with an S instead. Also to note that no Portuguese authority, in Chiang Mai or Bangkok, was contacted by the Police as it normally happens when there is any incident involving a national.

Heat?????? More likely the ICE. :whistling:

He is in a whole lot of trouble police dont take to kindly to shirtless farangs in chiangmai.  You will be arrested for not wearing a shirt.

Just another digital nomad out of work and money ,
