A German man was detained three days after Krabi Mayor Kiratisak Pukaoluan posted on his Facebook page photos of damaged trees in a public garden that was considered a landmark of Krabi Muang district.

The mayor also offered a reward of Bt30,000 for anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest of the culprit. His post last Friday went viral and the German man, who was identified as Bernd Roehrich, 50, was detained on Monday.

Investigator Pol Lt Colonel Chartchai Nakpaksee said the suspect confessed that he destroyed palm trees and other trees at a public garden close to Krabi River out of anger when his girlfriend left him.

Chartchai said that the suspect had a record for renting a motorcycle then filling it up with water. He will be charged with destroying public property.

10 days in the slammer, 5000 baht fine and deported/blacklisted for 5 years

  • its obvious this guy has mental issues, who in their right mind would knowingly put water in a petrol tank,  and not for the first time it seems, he wont get help here , best to post him back to where

  • I reckon the damage to the trees will come to more than 5,000 baht. Sentence him to three months tree planting service as well as fine and blacklist.

Only that could actually make him look stupid, but as they say all is is a fair reason in love and war. Lucky he didn´t kicked on some dogs too. Then it would have been a life sentence on the table.

Now we all know that this was not just a pretty look. He must really be totally stupid, and everyone understand very quickly why his girlfriend left him.

He needs to see a Psych doctor, that anger is not good to have walking on the street!

There are many cases of Germans making problems for themselves in Thailand. Is there a reason for this?

What a plonker, girlfriend left him !! I wonder why?

Poor bloke needs some professional help.

One point though, at least it wasnt a British man.

Killing police officers with a Ferrari obviously is a minor offense, in comparison.

Colin actually has a point. Where've the Brits gone this last quarter? We've got yank gay boys getting their <deleted> out at the temple and not stopping there the yanks threw in a few kids to scrawl over walls in broad daylight for good measure,  the swiss got involved by getting their man to turn off some thai blokes bike for which he took one for switzerland by way of a good bashing, the norwegians weren't having the swiss out do them so sent their ladyboy loving countryman to go over to a frog restaurant to moan about noise for which he also took a good bashing, the aussies and canadians threw in some bikie drug dealing murderers and the crown  has to go to none other than holland who took the world down with their man who decided killing his girlfriends family would surely not be beaten. so i ask you Britain, we have only a few days left this year, where the hell are you??

There are also quite a few cases where Germans don't make any problems at all, what do you think the reason is for that?

"... damaged trees in a public garden that was considered a landmark of Krabi Muang district. "

I suppose destruction of landmarks (well, major benefit) best left to those in authority. I am referring to wholesale removal of trees along Jomtien Beach Road a while back. They gave shade, lessened beach erosion.

he was probably trying to show the Thai public, mainly hot tempered or Yaba driven men, that anger needs to be vented towards things like trees, not towards innocent people.

As Thai men easily loose their temper and attack people out of the blue,  his contribution should be awarded.  Call the method  "successful anger venting towards palm trees"  and move from there. Maybe planting new trees is the appropriate sentence.

After his return to Germany I suggest at least a few visits to a psychiatrist and maybe an "Anger Venting Program" which includes a punching bag in his home

aye, they are slowly taking over the lead from all the British that have been making problems for themselves in Thailand in the past:smile:

The British have been very very good boys and girls lately. Even though I do like to poke fun at them when they are naughty which usually  seems like about every other day. I have to take my hat off to them for being almost angels the last couple months! ?

hey, this year ain't over yet mate, still time to pull something out of the bag 555

I hope they won't put him in a cell with a dozen 'influential figures' accused of illegal logging in national parks. It's better to prevent any exchange of experiences in this scene.

As he will most probably get deported, it looks like he has "Bernd" his bridges with Thailand ! :cheesy:

Rejection is very difficult to take for some  @rseholes,

Yes. You picked Germans and that's the reason. You could also have chosen Canadians or British or Russians or...
