The Upsides to the Hot Weather

Featured Replies

Even hot, cloudless skies can have a silver lining - post your personal positives about the heat here.

Here's some suggestions .....

1. You have a valid excuse to not go out and exercise

2. Washed clothes are crispy dry in 3 minutes - increasing the productivity of your Thai Wife/Housekeeper

3. You have a perfect excuse to buy a new car or bike after the sun has destroyed the plastics

4. You will never, ever need to scrape frost off a car windscreen with a credit card

5. There's no longer a risk of getting hypothermia in the cinema

6. Cold beer tastes even better

Good one!

And how do Thai girls manage to wear a towel as a dress without it falling off?

Right!

I have to let the water run for 10 minutes before it gets fresh!

The reason is that the water pipes outside are so hot that they keep on warming the water running inside.

In my outdoor kitchen, where there is only "cold" water available, if I turn the faucet in the afternoon, I get burned by the water rushing out!

Having said that, the positive side of this heat is that you appreciate even more the cool season... Oh, I forgot, the cool season doesn't exist anymore...

There is zero upside to 40 plus degrees for what seems like an eternity here in Nakhon Sawan.

Actually, it does. My first 'winter' here (Bangkok) in 1997/98 we had one cool day. We will have cool season again.

Oh the drought conditions are not new either. My wife tells me about a time before I arrived (80s/90s) when her family could not farm (Isan), no rain. They had to find jobs in the South or other countries to feed the family.

In theory it gets cooler from the weekend, and a week on Saturday could even be down to 33/32.

When it goes over 40 degrees here in Issan:

My chickens lay omelettes.....seriously, and I once saw two trees fighting over a dog, although that was on my way home in the morning from a big night out.

Yes - my pump and water pipes gets full sunlight - so even with the heater turned off I get a hot shower.

And my toilet seat is pre-warmed.  No cold shock in the morning.

Less clothes to buy.

And after a lifetime of working outside in all weathers (England), I promised myself that I would never complain that it was ever too hot when I retired to warmer climes.

I don’t enjoy 1 thing with the temperature or higher and the humidity high as well.I’m glad i’m In 70 degree weather.

Seeing the attractive women with a hint of sweat on their back as they walk around is definitely a plus point.

After a lifetime working in the heat in SEA I promised myself when I retired that I would perspire no more ????

Working in the garden yesterday at 18:00 soaked with sweat I had to wonder where I had gone wrong - again ????

some places are much less crowded, get more bang for my buck from my tea bc all the ice melts, shower water is more comfortable, have a heated pool now in our building, fewer tourists

but the ultimate... best excuse to drink alcohol

555555....and I thought I was the only one turned-on by seeing a sweaty young hottie.

I suppose not having to turn on your shower water heater.  This might actually save you 1 or 2 bt on every shower!

Man, them are some huge bazookas.  I'd imagine those things would arrive a few minutes before she does.
