New AIO computer with pre-installed Win10

Hi all,

Just purchased a new All-in-one desktop pc.  2.4Ghz .. wireless mouse and wireless keyboard.

As usual,  nothing is easy in Thailand ... it came with Win10 in thai language, so yesterday spent 2 hours on my mobile with video camera to my thai friend in Bangkok. Changed the language settings to English US and English Australia as required. Checked several you tube videos that show what to do and I did the same although some headings are not shown.

Anyway,  now have some apps in English but generally it's mostly still Thai language such as all the drop down menus and icons in the top title bar all open in thai.

Even 10 minutes ago I have since messed up the apps display page as some icons have gone missing from my below tool bar.

I hate windows 10, and want to install TrueOS ......  but even trying to download the program didn't succeed.

The manual says it's a Windows 10 .. 30 day trial version  OS.

I may have to take the PC into town and get a Thai to fix .... ????

what a disaster .....

Why not install Win. 10 as new as any copy of an installation disk recognize your dgital serial on your Laptop/PC /All in one , save you for 200 baht all the trouble ..all in English

As I was needed to do..., after a disaster upgrade from windows to win 10 1903  ,i could even after downgrading by a roll back only use 2 days normal  and a sudden could only see my document  and slow as snail ...

Almost I bought a AiO , as I came to this solution....

The shop at Tuckom opposite Jib computers , a corner Thai way "looking like a electronic garage repair shop" ,but friendly guy made a dvd win 10 & a USB stick Win 10 latest version 1903 bootable for all together with costs of dvd and usb 32 gb for 400 baht, and now that version is working fine and saved me the buck from buying a AIO

If you based Pattaya , I am sure that shop can help you out

Just changed the apps content location from Thai to Australia and now have 90% English across win 10. still some menus in Thai ....

But to be honest ...  after using windows 7 ultimate .... this Win 10 is really horrible, but I guess I'll get use to it eventually.

Best to run a clean install of the English version.

Click on this link to download; https://software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win10_1903_V1_EnglishInternational_x64.iso

Then get a USB Flash thumb drive of at least 8GB capacity.

Click to download Rufus; https://github.com/pbatard/rufus/releases/download/v3.5/rufus-3.5.exe

and use the instructions here on how to use Rufus to create the installation media

What is the model number of your AIO?

You think I should stick with the Windows 10 clean English install and not try to install a new open source TrueOS  ....  ?  WIN10 seems so user unfriendly .... and looks ugly ...lol

I have to tell you I hate Windows 10 with vengeance .....

I try to download programs and most is re-directed to Microsoft store ... or you can only buy from Google play store.

Also,  how do you use Microsoft office ??  if I want to make an excel sheet or use word doc ???

I have to purchase Office 365 from Microsoft  ???

I hate WIN10 ....  it's horrible  !   lol

can I have a normal desktop appearance with Windows 10  ?

can I just have icons on my desktop like windows 7 or cannot  ??

Download Open-Shell. Have a play with it and you should end up with a very Win 7 in appearance desktop and menus. One of my first tasks whenever I install Win 10.

You use rufus to make the flash drive bootable. You don't save rufus to it.

Run rufus, select your flash drive and the Windows ISO and go.

so .... I have downloaded the Win10 English 4.6G ... I plug in my 16G USB and tried to send the downloaded file over to the USB Drive D, but it says File is too Large for the destination system.... which is BS as it's 16G

Not BS, just means that your USB drive is probably formatted as FAT32 which has a file size limit of 4GB per file. Reformat the drive as NTFS which allows bigger files.

thanks,  it's now downloading .... also I have a 16G usb flash drive,  so I have to save the Rufus to the flash drive ? and make it bootable  ?

Look here; https://zillowtech.com/create-windows-10-installation-media.html

Scroll down to Create Bootable USB using Rufus

Choose Select rather than Download, since you have already downloaded the Windows 10 image.

I'm not sure if your device supports UEFI or utilises Legacy BIOS. So before you do anything else, follow the instructions here; https://www.thewindowsclub.com/check-if-uefi-or-bios in order to let me know which.

Try this one:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Regarding office and Windows 10. Buy your license from e-bay and check the reputation of the seller.

You can get both genuine keys for less than 500 baht.

   https://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-Office-Professional-Plus-2016-Software-with-Key-for-Windows/401794740915?epid=219667073&hash=item5d8cd532b3:g:DYoAAOSwYbpc66iv

I didn't buy from this seller, just an example.

You'll get the key via e-mail in only an hour, or two. Then you can download office from here:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/download-and-install-or-reinstall-office-2016-or-office-2013-7c695b06-6d1a-4917-809c-98ce43f86479

Use it the way as it's shown here:

I've bought keys for W 10 Pro ( do not buy the cheap versions) and MS office 2016. Page me if you need some help.
