Is the closure of your favorite bar or restaurant imminent?

True....But you know its bad if a Mcdonalds does not even have enough business to pay a skeleton crew to pump out mostly pre-frozen food that has quite a big mark-up...

That's a particularly expensive location, dependent on pedestrians. Same w/ Starbucks on the next corner, which has stayed closed. But perhaps McDonald's is trying to attract the customers who formerly patronized the now-closed Burger Deleted on Beach Rd. This would accord with the Fixed Pie principle of TVF Economics.

No. For pimping purposes I always wore my yellow Bikini.

Ever think about opening a bar you could call it the budgie smugglers inn . I’m trademarking that

Do they have takeaway? Then I will come with a big bag. But I am afraid the bar will be filled with cheap Charlies already.

The K ing's club on 3 road is the ex-Bliss

a BJ bar (Like Lolita's on the soi Chayapoon)

Usually you don't really go here to drink a beer

but i presume the promotion on the cheap beer

is a part of the package

To open any kind of Bar in Pattaya is a bit "retro".

But Trademark it as fast as you can. Otherwise this Zuckerberg Guy will beat you to it, smelling an on-line-deal. Smuggling data across borders without having to wear a yellow Bikini. (He Trademarks everything except 4000 year old Egyptian Mummies).

Without knowing it you may have adressed a major Pattaya issue.

In spite of "oversupply-situations" (real estate, for examle), Thais hate to lower prices.

How is it with those "package-deals" at those places you described? (lowering prices, reflecting current circumstances)? Never mind the price of Beer.

Most bars have more staff than customers, gogos probably 5-1.

had a businessman sit beside me this winter in a gogo in pattaya, he commented on how can these bars stay open, no customers in most, but they still remain open. I mentioned they are washing machines, he agreed. But buying a bar and living the dream has turned into a Stephen Deleted movie for most.

theres still 10s of millions missing from the hatton garden robbery and needs to be cleansed somewhere 555

Maggs Restaurant Pattaya
After many years of service, we are sad to announce that Magg’s last day open will be on Sunday 1st November. All food and beverages on the day will be half price, but some menu items will have limited availability as we look to run down stocks.

i presume the price of the main service hasn't been lowered

then probably the bar is trying to attract few customers inside with the

20 bahts beer advertising, when in fact you will probably have to pay

the 700 or 800 for the main service (I don't know the actual exact price)

and the 20 bahts for the beer

(The girls hoping that the customer will pay with a 1000 bahts note and giving

the difference as a tip, like a lot do it anyway)

On a side note the girls in this club aren't the youngest nor the pretiest

however they perfectly know what they do and i have myself never been

disapointed by my few visits here

Thanks. It depends where you go. Not much of a discount compared to pre-Covid.
I guess they are holding-up nicely "in the business" in spite of everything.

As opposed to regular folks in Pattaya that have to line up to some free food distribution outlets. Can happen if your not "in the business".

Same in Europe: If a lady is "in Buseness", hardly does she have to stand in a Food-Line.
In spite of everything.

Same same, everywhere.

The "new" Maggs wasn't as good as the old one but it's still sad to see another long time Pattaya resto close its doors. Will the last one out of town please turn off the lights.

Sad to read Welcome Inn, Khao Noi, now for sale.

Best of luck Bruce  and thanks for decent food at fair prices

They just recently re-opened...but hard for anyone to make it in the current environment. I'm starting to notice a few casualties in East Pattaya now.

Yet, all I have heard is that the pandemic has made little difference to the Darkside, as they were never reliant on the tourist trade.

That was the case for many months but as the border closure has dragged on for months and months (remember the 2-4 week closures we were told about at the start) some are starting to throw in the towel. I am lucky that none of my East Pattaya haunts have closed as yet. I doubt anyone is in the market to buy a resto right now so closure or run at a loss are probably the only options. I didn't go to Wellcome Inn often, but the Friday fish and chip fry-up was nice.

Doesn't that describe most establishments here?

He has said in an interview that he has reasonable landlord/s, but can only hang on for 3 to 4 months.  Not sure what he thinks is going to happen in the next 3 months.  Even if boarders opened, there will not be enough customer for his 25 bars to be viable.   He best start preparing for the inevitable.

Yeah, I follow the Nightwish group with interest, bit of a barometer if you ask me.

I must say, living outside of the mainstream, my favourite bar or restaurant were closing all the time. I don't think it's a big deal for the Thais.

Not as much as they would like you to believe. They had a bit of a spat with a rival bar owner over the livestreaming issue. Quite funny really.

He walked into one of their bars whilst they were livestraming. A virtual punter had just paid 1500 baht to ring the bell and the rival owner grabbed a drink off the tray and downed it. He then shouted to the virtual customers, "Its water!" and walked off. Caused quite a kerfuffle online.
