Thousands of Chinese tourists have visited Pattaya for years ,when the Coronavirus was happening in China there were thousands arriving all the time ,so why are there not any here with the virus? there should be scores of us down with it .

one other thing I keep reading on these threads that the Thais are blaming the 'dirty Farangs', well talking to my wife  who is quite intemligent ,unlike me and speaks reads and writes English ,when i mentioned it to her she just laughed and asked what Thais? everyone except some idiots blame the Chinese ,no one blames Falangs.

Maybe because most Chinese got off a bus onto a boat and back again. Not in town much. And any Thais that got the virus probably had no symptoms.

Just because there are busloads of Chinese somewhere does NOT mean they are all infected with the virus and infecting everyone within shouting distance.

There are (were) Chinese tourists from many different parts of that very large country, most of which wasn't affected by the virus initially. That is why, in the beginning, they started banning flights to/from just the area (Hubei province) and the city (Wuhan) that were most affected.

Maybe also why certain members of the (Thai) government were still pushing for more Chinese tourists to come and waiving the visa on arrival fee even though other places had started restricting/banning flights from China altogether. I think it took Thailand an additional 2 weeks before they finally gave up and joined the rest of the world in cancelling flights to/from China.

The Covid-19 virus is expected to die out over time.  Herpes is forever!

I have no idea, but it's a question worth asking.

There was another thread about people in Pattaya that thought they may have had the virus in November/Dec/January this year, but everyone poo-pooed it and thought it was BS.  I for one had a pretty bad respiratory infection in early January that I attributed to the pollution.  Knocked me out for about a week.  Symptoms pretty similar to covid- dry cough, difficulty breathing when exercising.

I would like to get an antibody test to see if I have previously been infected, but I don't trust anyone in Thailand to differentiate between an active infection and a previous infection during the current hysteria.

It’s the fresh sea breezes that blew the virus away.

2 possible reasons, first that they didn't mix with Thais and kept to themselves most of the time and two they had already received the flu jab which included Covid-19

Pattaya is not the center because Bangkok is and has been for more than three weeks.  The vast majority of infections are Thais.

True.

It is and has been however visited in the past several months by many Italians, Chinese, S. Koreans, and Iranians.  Lots of interaction in crowded clubs/discos gogo's and with Thai girls.

I am very surprised it is not the epicenter of infections.

Because no self respecting virus would be caught dead there.

555. Wouldn't that be great if there was a vaccine for Covid-19? At least a year away, I'm afraid.

The world is begging for such a test. Unfortunately it hasn't been developed yet.
