April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I went to Tesco/Lotus in Salaya yesterday at around 12.30 and the booze section was closed off, and not because it was the wrong time of day. I was told it was an "official" instruction but no further details were forthcoming. Does anyone know what is going on here?
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post Yesterday the shelves in my local 711 were full of water pistols/guns do they know something we don't know?

Virus-spreading foreigners are forbidden from buying alcohol at any time but Thai customers can still buy within the original constraints of not before 11 AM or between 2 PM and 5 PM.

You have to ask around I suppose, but am sure someone who sells alcohol outside of the big stores will serve you ???? I haven't had a beer for 3 weeks, OMG, the weight is dropping off of me, maybe it's the Vodka ?
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post Big C selling booze as normal. Tesco making up their own rules again, Just go someplace else.

April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post I'm in Sakon Nakhon. In 7/11, Tesco, Makro etc etc are alcohol zones sealed off and covered with plastic sheets. But you can go to any small local shop and buy more alcohol than you can carry any time of the day or night. Anywhere in the city.
April 8, 20205 yr Mom and pop shops are still selling it. Tesco, 7/11 etc... are not in most provinces.

April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post i've stopped using them anyway. far easier to buy from a different shop and get a free bag

I came in from watering the lawn and she was having her usual healthy breakfast, Khanom Jeen with SomTam accompanied with pork floss and Pla Wan (dried sweet fish)......I've got my work cut out for me....sigh.

I ate that. Then Big C was doing a special on Merba Soft Muffin Cookies for only 99 baht. I had never tried this brand before and they are really good like eating a slice of chocolate cake or a brownie. Then I finished that first bag of Merba and then I ran back to Big C to get another one. I kept telling myself that this is a state of national emergency and a really good price and I don't know when I will be able to eat another cookie.
April 8, 20205 yr Popular Post Before the shutdown, my wife would regularly take a few friends and pop across to Lao........ the last time she did it they brought me back 2 cases of Lao beer Bottle Whiskey--2 Bot Bombay Gin, a large Bot stoli Vodka 2 Sambuca's & 2 hot French bread's. I asked her if we were having company....she said no . Then why did you buy so much <deleted> bread...................................

No they are not 'making up their own rules', at least the shops aren't. It is the provincial governors who are deciding whether booze can be sold on their patch. As mentioned above, we already have a booze ban here in Sakon Nakhon and I read earlier that Chiang Mai is following suit. I wouldn't be surprised if all provinces impose this ruling before too long. I reckon the idea is to reduce social gathering during the Songkran period. So desperate types stock up soon.
April 8, 20205 yr This news has upset my neighbour, he's a struggling ventriloquist. He complained yesterday he missed his full breakfast of a goiled egg, gread and gutter and a gottle of geer.
