  • Does giving pep talk to adults on how to run their lives give a bit of a feel good. Some say live your own life.

  • I think golf courses should remain closed. I don't play golf nor do I even care. I just feel they should be closed based on the fact it doesn't affect me at all.

  • We'll be healthier than before, once alcohol ban is lifted.    Not a bad time to stop drinking altogether and spend the time and money to something else?   Some say that it takes 3

As per the OP:

  • Recreation areas - public parks can open but no team sports can be played and large gatherings are not allowed. Golf and tennis is allowed.

I'm hoping that includes beaches. What I'm missing most is my afternoon walk on the beach.

Another Thailand media website beginning with the letter 'T' states that the PM has ordered the same restrictions to be in place until May 31st meaning all these businesses must remain closed. So which is true??

The locals in my village who have nothing will be thrilled that golf courses will be open.

So public parks will open.. Wonder if that includes beaches... I'm getting fed up swimming in the dark..

This one small issue (booze ban) demonstrates difference between western countries and basically Thai military state.

My country AU, the government would not have chance in hell of enforcing such a stupid rule. I'm sure most others US, UK etc etc would be same.

Chaos for suppressive rules just for the sake of it.

Good, they should keep the booze ban.

Great to see golf will reopen can't wait to hit the links.

why should they keep the booze ban?

Have you got any idea how many people are employed in the drink and entertainment industry?

Are you happy for all of those people to have no money just to appease your vindictiveness?

You do realise that if there was no booze, golf clubs would go under around the world

There is a massive social aspect to every golf club that includes dinners, galas, restaurants and even just a few on the 19th hole!

The local AA meetings are going to be busy. Which is ironic because  large gatherings are what the government is trying to avoid.

you would have to get to their level of human evolution to understand - an impossible task for most but not all on here

Learn new skills, learn to cook better, read books, play chess or cards (online if no other people around), learn to improve your Thai both talk and read.. pretty much anything which keeps the brain fed.

Is that advice exclusive to me or the millions of people who are worried right now where their next pay check is coming from?

"Got lots of free time but no money? Riddled with angst? Learn some new life skills, stupid!"

Would make for a great ad.

It would be nice to hear what kind of hobbies people have started or continued because of the current and continuing situation.

Think I'll build a still.

Selfish. What's worst is that it would actually give you enjoyment at cost of others being upset.

I agree. bkk6060's snide remarks are not wanted and he should refrain from posting regarding this subject on the forum agitating people.

I hope the thais will now see what kind of government they have in place. As far as I know, no other government in any country has banned its people from consuming alcohol at home. The <deleted> will hit the fan soon.

The Indonesians have a word: korupsi. It's a broken government basically using their ill-gotten power to punish the big big booze companies because they've refused to roll over in the past and do as they are told. Zero to do with COVID-19.

Oh I see - that's why you're grumpy. Ah well. The entire world is in the same boat mate. Grin and bear it.

Found it on the net:

On May 11, 1949, an official proclamation changed the name of the country to "Prathet Thai", or "Thailand", by which it has since been known. The word "Thai" means "free", and therefore "Thailand" means "Land of the Free." Population: 65 million.

Maybe they should change the name again.

This booze ban will start to dig in the pockets of two very influential families. Not healthy for the government.

but doesn't this run contrary to the claims that the government is all about money?

the lost tax revenue alone must be a very significant hit for them.

the only truly regrettable thing is that the reopening of restraunts will be a mixed blessing for many businesses, simply because alchol is such a big mark up item, and few restaurants beyond the mom and pop business truly make their money on food sales.

This is FAKE NEWS. The Prime Minister issued an order, published in the Royal Gazette late Wednesday night, mandating all provincial governors, including Bangkok’s governor, to delay their plans to ease the measures until further notice.

key words here are further notice.

They should replace Thai with Thaas. As in Thaasland, land of slaves.
