Tried to book my Ford in for a service and a new electric window motor .

I have been told they would need half a day to do these chores.

With the thought of sitting in a Ford reception in the middle of nowhere for 5 hours I sent off an e mail on an off chance to see if I could be loaned a courtesy car , so I could go home and relax while they are working on it.

This isn't a bash  , it is amusing........I sent the mail through Ford's website and this is what appeared after I submitted.....I think they need to get somebody to look at their translation.

Yes , we turned up on time at the day of the appointment to replace the motor.

The vehicle was driven straight onto one of the repair bays .

I noticed that nobody was bothering with itt , so the wife asked what was happening , apparently the storeman had decided to take the day off and he had taken the store keys home with him.......

So we had to wait an hour and a half for the keys to access the part , and 30 mins to replace the faulty motor.

I don't know if it is me or Ford.

Wife rung Ford yesterday , need to replace the windscreen wipers.

Receptionist said some body will call you Wednesday for details etc.

Today (Wed) yes we have the wipers when would you like to come.

We booked Thursday morning 10:30hrs , as it coincides with other business I need to do in Kanchanaburi ( 100klm round trip )

Just received another call from Ford , we haven't got the wipers for your vehicle , we have to order them

Do Ford not carry accessories in their showroom / garage.

I remember I had to order a battery off them once , 6 weeks it took to arrive.

I should have stuck with Toyota.

Ford Kanchanburi obviously doesn't at the moment.

Chances are they keep a small stock of wipers as most people get these changed at accessory shops or DIY (most all accessories available on lazada and shopee). Despite the ridiculous price they will charge you, there's no profit in them holding a large stock. In the past, I have seen them offering discounts on wiper blades, batteries and tires but not recently.

Since rainy season has kicked in, maybe they've replaced more wipers than usual, hence being suddenly out of stock? What Ford do you have? Model and age. I can send a link for them on lazada. Otherwise, your local accessory shop will do it cheaper/quicker than any dealership can.

The best wipers are BOSCH AEROTWIN they are easily available on Lazada, certainly not the cheapest but no difficult getting them.

Same as me. Here's Ford OEM (500 baht + shipping) and a 'premium' set (369 baht +shipping) on lazada.

Mr. DIY has several items that are both a bargain and decent quality. Their windscreen wipers aren't in that category.

The last set I bought were 3M brand from Tesco-Lotus. They lasted well for the bargain price of around 300 baht/pair IIRC.

That's what I have fitted currently. I bought them from Halfords in the UK on my last trip home but they are available in the stores here and on lazada.

Help in translation required please.

Ford 2011 Wildtrak 3.2

I have a chirping noise on idle coming from what I thought was a loose belt , a quick look by a Ford mechanic and apparently there is something inside my alternator that is broken .

It is obviously not urgent as they have to order something , but it is okay to drive until the replacement comes..(I don't understand why Ford garages does not carry spares ). I tried to get a translation of what was broken and I have tried numerous online translation apps. to help with this document , I am still at a loss.....Can anybody tell me what I am paying 11,000 baht for ?

Ford doesn't fix, but only replaces.

Fix Or Repair Daily only applies to owner - few merchants fix anything these days - it is a replace society we live in - and in many cases this is cheaper for customer.

I'm no mechanic , but Ford have told us it will be a 8:30 in the morning job and pick it up at 5 o'clock.

They said they have put one mechanic aside just to work on replacing alternator.

8hrs , wow , I didn't realise it was such a difficult job.

But they are only charging you for 2 hours, so not that bad right? The reason they want to take the whole day is to have some leeway if anything goes wrong or takes longer than expected. The job might finish in 2 hours, but might take 3 or maybe 4 depending on circumstances. I think your Ford dealer is taking care of you pretty well. FYI, I have changed an alternator at Mitsubishi once, and that took 3 hours to change, but I had to drop off the car at 8.00 and pick up at 17.00. Not really a big deal ????
