PHUKET: People wanting to leave the island to return to their home provinces must now obtain a “Fit to Travel” document, the Phuket Governor has announced.

Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana explained this morning (May 2) that the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior had issued a formal letter ordering the provincial government to make sure all people leaving Phuket were issued a document confirming that they had been screened for the virus by a health official or been in self-quarantine in Phuket for at least 14 days.

Other requirements notified by Interior Minister’s office included Phuket officials notifying the destination provinces which people were returning home, providing those travelling a document to prove they are permitted to return home and list the provinces through which they must travel in order to return home, and maintain a list of all people approved to travel home and maintain a record of when they left the province.

Now, you know the rest of the story.  The Governor is not in complete charge as he would like to be now is he?

Who decides 'fit to travel' criteria. Just a temperature check ? Almost worthless. Would need a COVID test kit. Never going to happen.

Indeed, as with the self certified 14 day quarantine criteria.

Has to be screened or self quarantine. Probably a visit to the village headman saying you have self quarantined for 14 days will suffice?

Half closing the door after the horse has bolted.

They really stuffed this one up, but I understand the people.

Imagine, no money, no job, stuck on the island, landlord will not reduce rent & they can go back to Nakhon  anywhere & stay on the land,,, of course the mass exodus

Undressed and hosed down with antiseptic......clothes confiscated....you are then hung out to dry after which you can carry on with your journey.....other than that no other special requirements needed...enjoy your trip :clap2:

Obviously many are oblivious to what is happening in other parts of the world.

I was supposed to be going to Morrocco next week, there they need a Certificate of Entitlement to leave their home.

If Thai government had taken the same approach there wouldn't be a problem leaving Phuket, or anywhere else, would there. Everyone would be more than happy with the situation.

I ask myself everyday "How does this country keep on working?" Causing mass confusion by the hour. I truly feel sorry for these people wanting to go back to their provinces.

yeah..fit to travel..until they get to their home province where they will have to succumb to a 14 day quarantiene ...one district labels them fit another labels them questionable...how <deleted> stupid...I never saw so much chaos in all my life over a stupid flu bug....Its obvious nobody has any idea what is going on....get on with your lives people

Thailand loves bureaucracy, they can't help themselves just to create a little more.

It's an addiction.

It is how they justify the bloated government workers who feed at the trough without really working to hard.  Everything is Cha-Cha, Slooooowwwwwwwlllllllyyyyyyy.

We have lived in Phuket for 13 years and now our family wants to move to Chiang Khan. My Thai wife built a small one room bungalow on her rice farm during the New Years and we have electricity and water from our well pump. We have an electric meter on the main road in front of the driveway onto the rice farm. We want to drive from our house in Phuket to our small bungalow in Chiang Khan but the "fit to travel" form required by the government https://phuket.depa.cloud/inform.php requires a Thai address for the destination and to get that, we have to get a house book. To get the house book we need a drawing of the house by the contractor and permission from the village chief and go to the Ampur to apply for a house book. All we have is an electric bill which is mailed to our house in Phuket and we have paid the electric bill for one year already since we installed the well pump. How difficult will it be to make the trip to Chiang Khan assuming that we get the "fit to travel" form?
