Pattaya may fence off beaches and require contract tracing to visit the beach...

Pattaya may limit entry to its beaches to better control crowds and register visitors to better track any coronavirus infections.

To allow contact tracing, the beaches should be fenced off and limited entry points established where visitors can register with the government’s Thai Chana contact-tracing app and have their temperatures checked, Jakarat said.

  • As it is not about the virus because there isn't any, according to the Thai government. What is driving this? Is it crowd control, or keeping the homeless, the recent jobless, from camping, living on

As it is not about the virus because there isn't any, according to the Thai government. What is driving this? Is it crowd control, or keeping the homeless, the recent jobless, from camping, living on the beach? Or thai locals from pulling a Baeng Saen beach attack and leaving it a trashed mess.

Please help the upcountry befuddled. Thanks

yes, and he should have gone further in to reality of a Pattaya beach...

of course there's the 14 day wait period for seeing if you copped a CCP virus from someone...

But; he should have added the 11 day wait warning too!

 - the time it takes for the incubation of streptococcus skin infection

      (from the beach/sand/water scum)

At what point is Thailand going to be declared covid free? How long is this gonna take?

Probably on the 37th day of announcements of no domestic covid cases as long as they can continue to avoid any countrywide testing.

A few months back a clairvoyant minister announced that Thailand would have about circa 3000 cases and under 100 deaths.

I think it's a brilliant idea! And combine this with collecting fees at every point of entry, to pay for swimming in that dirt water. I'd say Thai 20 Baht, Foreigner 200 Baht.

No thanks. If I ever came to Pattaya, it wouldn't be for the beaches anyway...

How about if you go swimming in the turd ocean off Pattaya beach you should have to do 2 weeks in quarantine to see if you picked up any strange diseases from that nasty water....

And yet the echo of the shrill protests about being banned from the beach hasn't yet faded..............

Fickle.

Who even goes in the water these days as the Russians are long gone.

ah you come for the temples

Having taken a nanosecond to thoroughly think this through I decided it won't ever be necessary for me ????

When there are zero infections in the country, currently there are over 3000.

ie, all cases have recovered from the infection, or died from it.

*Blimey, the whole country would have starved to death by them. Just imagine.

Actually, if you check the current numbers....there have been 3135 cases since the start. 58 deaths and 2996 recovered leaving 81 active cases in Thailand.

Quite a few countries already meet this criteria, but Thailand has 10,000 Thais waiting to return and I believe they are limited to 2-300/day, so some time yet!

So you are going to spend 4 to 8 hours on the beach, and a 15 second entrance process is "madness"?

Have you ever experienced real adversity in your life because you do not seem well prepared.

Dont worry. Putting a mask on and getting your temperature checked doesn't mean they are going to take your AR15s away.

Do they want to totally destroy Pattaya as a tourist destination?

No, I reckon not.
