When I first saw this story, I just thought it was a spelling error and it was just abouta bloke who was in the company of six bar-girls !

Here is a Thai guy being arrested for something?

Sure illegal but,

One lucky thing, they can not deport him.

I just wonder what his sentence will be?

Are those barukas a protected species?

How absolutely pathetic, people are dying everyday on the roads here, largely due to lack of proper policing, yet the sad morons have got time to arrest a man for having a few hookas, sad.

Yes but these kind of criminal activities always tend to escalate.

One minute is selling dodgy hookas then next your blowing the doors off a van in Italy.

It was one arrest, that's all, but you're suggesting that no other police work was going on in the Phuket force while this man was being arrested, yes?

The use of such shisha pipes are illegal or highly controlled in many countries including Jordan and the UK.

No, you have somehow created that defensive and rather unintelligent hyperbolae.

You think this is quality police work and of value to the community?

The whole idea of Hookah being illegal is ridiculous - its one of those non sensical regulations on which the police can pounce and claim fines, when in reality the real issues such as drink driving are delt with nothing greater than cloudy focus at best.

That this man was arrested for having these Hookahs in his bar does not suggest ‘other police’ were not carrying out effective police work. But, in a country known of an extremely apathetic police force it does suggest the 'arresting officers’ took the easy option rather than getting out there and ‘doing effective police work to protect the community’.

They stink and make the beer taste of perfume.

Can you smoke a pipe in Thailand?  Can somebody tell me the difference?  Yes I know: when was logic or critical thinking every exist in military controlled Thailand?  Vietnam does not seem to care.  The bars here have them.

Many shisha cafes in the UK. Governing rules are the same as smoking cigarettes (ie outside only).

I think the word Bong originated here, and yes you can smoke a pipe here as long as the stuff you smoke is legal.

You beat me to it... same humour.

I wonder who that guy upset?

Don’t have to go far to find them in (very soggy) ‘party town’. Mind you trying to get one for home use isn’t so easy

Shisha pipes stink and attract Russians and Arabs.

Perhaps not, but where are accompanying stories concerning other criminals being apprehended on the same day and time?

I buy a lot of stuff online from Lazada and just recently I have seen a lot of Alcohol stills being offered for sale. They are VERY illegal in the UK and America, yet it appears to be acceptable to distil your own moonshine in Thailand..
