Thailand’s Institute for Judicial Reform has urged Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha temporarily to relieve from active service all police officers involved in helping Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya escape prosecution over a fatal hit-and-run case eight years ago.

Pol Senior Sergeant Major Wichian Klanprasert was killed in the accident and his body was dragged about 100 metres along the Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok by Vorayuth’s Ferrari.

The institute also called on the Attorney General to suspend from active duty a prosecutor, who was heard speaking in an audio clip with a group of police officers, allegedly pressuring a forensics expert, Pol Lt-Col Thanasith Taengchan, to change the estimate of the Ferrari’s speed, from 177kph to under 80kph, in order to avoid a charge of reckless driving causing death to another person.

  • Why only temporarily? Everyone of them and the people who bribed them should be charged/ jailed. One of their own died, yet they put personal gain before justice, bloody disgraceful.

  • That´s the scary word in the story.

  • How about getting them to flip on those that gave them the bribes in the first place and charge then with obstruction of justice?   Hold on, what am I thinking about, this is Thailand.

If they haven't been removed in the 8 years thus far what's the point to remove them now as any damage they could have caused to the investigation surly already been done...

pathetic, even in the land of show

The family paid the fare....obviously a very costly deal that has now involved many people in government...police, govt officials etc.....

The issue of closing out this nonsense case, is now being thrown into Prayuth' lap.....how he manages this without too much controversy will be interesting to follow.

Apirat is in the background awaiting his turn.

I would imagine that any of them involved have a fabulous retirement “pot” already so won’t need any more wages.

So @ 177kph its reckless driving causing death but at under 80kph its not...

Well the Isaan servant already went to prison for making a false statement, claiming he was driving the car.

They'll bang up a couple more for show that 'justice' has been done. If they don't I'll owe you $20

Welcome to Justice, Thai Style

Temporarily relieve means they still get full pay and have to do nothing for it for a while ... that's kind of a reward then .

Temporarily...they should all be sacked, all benefits taken away and barred from any similar positions in the future.

So says them. In the teal world, you can’t drive drunk and kill someone - regardless of how slow you pay the police to say you were going.

Don't feed the troll.

Haven't you noticed yet that in every thread on the forum, his game is going against the main stream, or make some silly comments?

How about removing them permanently and moving them to a prison along with the people above them who green lighted all the Save Boss scams.

All just lip service as they will be back to their normal corrupt means once they have done their time in the naughty corner. This will drag on until it is no longer news, all forgotten and the little red ahole gets away once more.

They need to check all bank accounts including relatives and friends of all those involved

Because it shows the supreme fairness of the world-renowned Thai judicial system....in which even the most unscrupulous and corrupt police are always given time to come up with bribes big enough to keep their jobs.

This could actually put the PM in a difficult position. He actually has a difficult decision to make. He doesn't like being told what to do hence the word "asked" rather than something rather stronger. It'll be interesting to see how he handles this request.

I believe that’s inactive duties. Temporarily relieved is no pay or benefits
