It appears that the second wave may be coming in from China just as the first did. If the test is only 95% accurate, that means a possible 5 people infected but not caught out of the 120+ coming in. 

 

And Thailand had been doing so well.

I don't know but a 95% accuracy with a result within 2 hours seems to be a bit of a reach.

Certainly agree with the positive step forward.

 

But I still wonder about all this reliance on the vaccine. Rather, I wonder what makes this time so different regarding vaccines as according to history there has never been a successful vaccine created for any of the 5 coronavirus outbreaks that have occurred in recent history.

 

Hope that I'm wrong and they do produce (the fastest ever) a working (>70%) vaccine and it is not just a media driven story.

Oxford just announced a proven high accuracy Covid 19 test, result in 5 minutes.

It is a risky move. But there is not so much they can do about it.  
Thailand has been very cautious but they can not keep doing it for a long time.

The accuracy of a PCR test should be much higher than 95% and as far as I know getting the result in two hours is very fast indeed (so actually unlikely)

An ideal group to start trialing the newly mooted "Covid spit test". Just follow them from the aircraft door and swab the floor.

These will have an accuracy of 95%? that's almost the dead opposite of what I've read about them, a false positive rate of 80% is what I've read, rendering them virtually useless...
