1G1-7: Luxurious Myanmar hotel at center of Covid outbreak

A luxurious hotel full of nighttime entertainment is now firmly at the center of the Covid-19 cases discovered in the north of Thailand.

The 1G1-7 lies just 1.5 kilometers from the border checkpoint at Mae Sai, reported Sanook.

The modern complex has "all forms" of entertainment, they said, including a large number of karaoke rooms and a disco that caters to well-heeled Thai and Myanmar tourists.

The hotel employs a large number of Thai women who are popular with guests. After an outbreak in the town of Tachilek many of these women are believed to have sneaked back across the border into Thailand unwilling to have to undergo the 14 day state quarantine.

Now many cases are being discovered and the Thai authorities are desperately trying to trace all contacts with those who have sneaked in after the first of an initial six was discovered last week.

Elsewhere in the Thai media it has been alleged that prostitution has gone on at the hotel that is believe to be owned by a Chinese investor.

Karaoke in Thailand is often a front for prostitution. At the 1G1-7 karaoke rooms can be rented for up to 2,000 baht an hour.

It has 100 rooms with prices from just over 1,000 baht up to 10,000 baht and its entertainment areas can accommodate a thousand guests.

Yes, Thailand has none here, guess that is why the women of the night worked in Myanmar instead of the entertainment spots here in Pattaya, Patong, Pat Pong, Nana, or Soi Cowboy.  As the RTP has said there is no prostitution in Pattaya as it is a Family friendly location.   Nothing to see here.  Tachilek must be the Asian equivalent of Nevada with its Moonlight Bunny Ranch, the formerly world renowned Mustang Ranch, and such.  I guess they should be selling T's shirts to commemorate the visit they had....Replace Mustang Ranch with 1G1-7 HOTEL

No doubt there will be Thai & Myanmar officials, military etc getting their pockets filled from this. Dont expect to see much investigation into how, who have been helping these girls cross over the borders- I am sure there is plenty turning a blind eye for the correct price.

I expect they also enjoy the hospitality as well.

Think it should have been the "IGI POP" hotel but an error occurred....????

Well-heeled Thais, let's call them 'quality tourists', coming from the land of purity sneak out to Myanmar, for phucking around with Thai prostitutes in a luxury hotel owned by a Chinese investor, and then sneaking back home into the land of purity without any quarantine, while blaming us dirty foreigners to be a danger for Thailand because we would bring Covid to Thailand if we were let in! :cheesy:

This story sums up Thailands hypocrisy very very well!

Definitely looks like one. Those big colums out the front are a dead 'knock shop' give away, BUT, I've never been to the similar looking one in Pattaya, just driven past. As I was driving past the Pattaya one, I did see this young fit good-looking farang couple wandering up the stairs with these 2 young beautiful Asian women. I still wonder what all that was about. Ohhhh can only dream. ????

I dont know, but it is written in the OP:

"The modern complex has "all forms" of entertainment, they said, including a large number of karaoke rooms and a disco that caters to well-heeled Thai and Myanmar tourists."

Possibly due to privacy reasons. These well-heeled Thais are too well known in Thailand maybe.

That must be 'accommodate' in the biblical sense then.

The hotel employs a large number of Thai women who are popular with guests.

Of course, they are. Thai massage is well known all around the world.

It's a face thing.

If it happened in another country, it probably never happened.

Thai logic.

7-11 G

Soon to be rolled out on each 7-11 in Thailand.

They are just testing it out in Myanmar.

Todays BKK Post calls it a business in a grey zone, joint investment by Chinese, Burmese & Thai owners, long since well known among 'nightlife enthusiasts' (LOL, etc. ...).

VIP (!) 'karaoke' rooms from THB 500.- to 2.000.- per hour ...

Very unlikely, but could there possibly be some, uh, take-away love to be had there ...?

I have no idea what you are talking about. Save face from what? Some Thais have come back accross the border with Covid. Its all been reported on the news. What and who is saving face from what?

Thai dont need to go to Myanmar to sleep with Thai prostitutes they can just do it here and do widely accross the company. So what exactly and who is saving face from what?
