Thailand’s Chulalongkorn Uni to begin human trials of its mRNA vaccine in April

Chulalongkorn University’s vaccine research centre will start human trials of its mRNA vaccine candidate, tentatively in April, after it received prototype vaccine from two factories in California.

The centre’s director, Dr. Kiat Ruxrungtham, said that the initial human trials will be conducted on 72 volunteers, to assess the right dosages. This will be followed by the second stage, lasting from June until September, to test the efficacy and safety of the vaccine on about 600 volunteers.

Dr. Kiat said the centre will decide whether the third stage of the trial can be skipped, depending on technical data available at the time.

Another first for Thailand, skipping stage 3 trials?

Yea lets rely on data from stage 1 and 2 and forget ......................

STAGE 3:= Scientists give the vaccine to thousands of people and wait to see how many become infected, compared with volunteers who received a placebo. These trials can determine if the vaccine protects against the coronavirus, measuring what’s known as the efficacy rate. Phase 3 trials are also large enough to reveal evidence of relatively rare side effects.

In addition to volunteers they are also looking for 500 million baht, and donations.

Side-effect: Desire for a cigarette.

Amazing Thailand, soon to have the first true vaccine in the world, much like the cure for AIDS and HIV, and the organic cancer cure.  Truly Wonderful country we live in.

He also said that their vaccine ca be stored at 5 degrees in the fridge something oe of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world is not able to achieve.

He said that one advantage of the mRNA vaccine, being developed by the centre, is that it can be stored at 5oC, compared to the Pfizer vaccine which must be stored at below -70oC. He said that in the next two months they will know the appropriate temperature for storing the mRNA vaccine and, if everything goes to plan, production could then start, with the first million doses to be available within this year.

The best laid plans of mice and Thais.

So can the Oxford vaccine .............

Test it on the overage of monkey's in Khumpawapi, and some of the other locations, instead of surgically stopping them from procreating....

Ah, that is why they are allowing Covid-19 to spread in Thailand, otherwise how will they know if it works?

Perhaps this is another way of saying that the project can be abandoned after second phase if those results are not productive.

around the world there are already over 120 vax trials, up to phase 3.

There is not much point for thailand trying to conduct any trials.

if this california vax wasn't to put in trial in the usa it mean, that chances for success are small.

this is very new technology, still pioniered by the biggest companies. Long term side effects are not know.

why thai developers are trying to rise the goal and complicate the research by fiddling with temperature?

those temperature sensitive vax are already distributed around the world, that includes indonesia, arab countries, israel, south america with tropical climate. It's much easier to use existing deep freezers than tweek vax

Russia and China began vaccinating people before stage three trials~who would have guessed the same path followed here

The Moderna mRNA vaccine can be stored for 30 days at 4°C after thawing- this is already perfectly possible.

You've got your wires crossed: the tobacco plant vaccine is based on isolating a virus protein from genetically modified plants and is nothing to do with the original post which refers to a mRNA vaccine, which causes body cells to make a virus protein after it is injected.

how is this a "Thailand’s Chulalongkorn Uni" vaccine?  they've bought some leftovers from a production run at a california factory or two.

this is like buying an off-the-shelf drone kit, adding some "amazing thailand" stickers, and claiming to have an indigenous space program.
