The Pizza Company’s new pizza is like nothing you have ever seen

Thailand’s Pizza Company has just launched what is possibly the world’s first pizzaless pizza.

Unveiled on Thursday, the pizza consists only of a crust, with no base or topping.

The crust in fact is made of 12 mini cheeseburgers joined together to make the ‘pizza’.

“Pizza No Topping!” the company declared in a Facebook post.

“Double Cheeseburger Crust served with 2 dipping sauces (Tomato Sauce and Tomato Mustard ).” Order it online and choose your crust – oh wait! – there’s only one choice available: the “Extreme Double Cheeseburger Crust.”

The 12 inch pizza comes with two dipping sauces - tomato and tomato mustard - and costs 189 baht. It’s available until 23 Feb or until stocks run out.

The announcement on Facebook was met with a mix of intrigue and bewilderment.

Lots of people commenting appeared eager to try it, while others seemed less convinced.

One Facebook user wrote: “Italian people are so angry right now”, while another wrote “war: Italy vs Thailand”.

One Facebook user described the pizza as “Culinary evolution”, and said: “500 years from now, historians will debate why this is called pizza and why Italy waged war on Thailand”

This isn’t the first time The Pizza Company has bit headlines after unveiling a wacky pizza.

In 2018, the firm launched the limited edition ‘durian pizza’, which proved something of a hit with stinky fruit lovers in Thailand.

Most Thais I know disdain eating the crust. Also they slather the pizza in ketchup (yech). So essentially the locals will eat the  accompaying sauce + ketchup  packets and toss the box!

I wouldn't mind someone here (hopefully not Pizza Co.) making a so-called cheeseburger pizza... a real pizza with toppings reflecting a cheeseburger...

But AFAICT, the subject of this article definitely is NOT that!!!

no thanks

Is there some UN agency we can lodge a protest to? What Thailand has done to the pizza should be a crime against humanity.

Barbarian.

Or is it an early April fools joke?

Lately I've given up on buying pizza as they all seem to made with ketchup/bottled tomato sauce. I suppose it saves time and effort to make a proper tomato sauce base.

They all taste crop.

Would you like ice and soda  in your 2000 baht bottle of wine sir ????

Taking the pizz calling it a pizza ..

Is it even a cheeseburger when it's PORK - not beef?  (I just checked online!)

Then again, is it a pizza, or is it a circular sandwich?

Someone had a brainwave, let's straighten out a pretzel.

Or perhaps they were hoping to be headhunted by the TAT.

They must have hired on of the ministers to come up with this idea.

hey, it actually looks good to me, though it doesn't look like a pizza... a pretzel cheeseburger... look out Auntie Annie..

So take away the pizza base and toppings. Sell the crispy burnt bit from around the edges, and charge them 189 baht.

A bit like the confection companies making Mars, Flake etc smaller but charging the same price.

It's amazing, whatever <deleted> they are coming up with, they name it "pizza"..

I would imagine it is a TATism?

Check out the one with triangular peaks.  The peaks are now much further apart.

I am partial to their 18" New York style pepperoni pizza...downed one on my own a couple times.

Sounds bloody tasty to me right now....amazing how the additional herbs work. This is nothing worse than the Calzone concept, stop all of the crying at change.

That's like a Pondering with meat and cheese in it.

That concept is so horrible they may as well put pineapple in there too!

But why stop the innovation here??

I have a brilliant idea:

Cut that "pizza" in 12 pieces, replace the imitation cheese by feta, and get rid of the ketchup.

I even have thought up a name for it: TIROPITA.

I stopped buying when they started using 1000 Island on the base ????
