The RTP is listed by the UN as  'A Criminal Organisation'; not that we need telling as it's widly known both inside and outside of the country.

Likelyhood of change........ZERO !

A link to that damning claim would be helpful.

After the 2014 coup DMP Prawit Wongsuwan took over the portfolio of the police and the patronage and favours including the buying and selling of positions continued, he said.

The Tik Tok & commode portfolio has grown very nicely  ????

Well it is a pyramid, and payments flow upwards.

And just to be clear, the RTP is not the only government agency which employs this time-honored tradition of promoting on "merit". (Merit = cash money)

I think the rep. is in hot water because he published lists of names.

And this is why Big Joke was able to jump the promotion queue.

Nice to see a politician with the balls to stand up and bring this out into the open arena, confirming what most citizens already knew.

They need a Thai version of Frank Serpico to bring to light the darkness of this corruption.

A leading and controversial Thai opposition politician has weighed into the debate about patronage and favors in the Royal Thai Police saying it has continued throughout the time of the NCPO to the present day.

He has even named a senior Thai policeman in the so-called ‘elephant ticket’, a list of officers who are allegedly guaranteed promotion after paying bribes. The term ‘elephant ticket’ in Thai was trending on Twitter over the weekend.

Move Forward party list MP Rangsiman Rome was contributing to the debate over police transfers.

After the 2014 coup DMP Prawit Wongsuwan took over the portfolio of the police and the patronage and favors including the buying and selling of positions continued, he said.

Then in more recent times PM Prayuth Chan-ocha took over the responsibility for the RTP.

But it is still a mess, perhaps even worse so.

Wrongdoing still goes unpunished with casino bosses and drug lords getting their way.

Rome even suggested that police bow and scrape to godfathers and the mob and that they are not defenders of the people but their destroyers.

Into this row he implicated Pol Lt-Gen Torsak Sukhawimol the commander of the central investigation unit.

He is the very well connected younger brother of Air Chief Marshall Sathitpong Sukhawimol the Lord Chamberlain.

The BBC asked the general to comment on the politician's allegations but he was evasive saying that he was at a merit ceremony and reporters should address their questions elsewhere.

the most interesting part of the story is how the officers get the money for the bribe: they loan it from "influential figures". now you can piece together the rest...
