He is a factor no doubt and is a curse for the Rep Party. The elixir for winning election is to expand your base. With Trump, the party is doing the opposite with the general population and within his own party with his purge of incumbent leaders that don’t kiss his ring.

I don't think it would be that bad for the Republicans. This would finally be what the real life situation is already,: a right wing party, Tea party/Trump style, a centrist party with the Rino's and democrats more to the right like Biden cs, and a more left wing democratic party with the likes of Sanders, AOC etc.

Both traditional democratic and Republican party would hevae to reorient themselves.

He never got respected because he started telling porkies from day one. Not to mention being a complete jerk. Plus, he lost the popular vote. In the eyes of many, he didn't have a mandate from the majority. Makes sense.

 

Due to Trump, the Republicans lost the house, the senate and the white house. Never happened like this before in modern history. Sticking with Trump is a losing proposition.

He is a poor excuse for a human being and a compulsive liar to boot, and if he proclaims himself the future of the Republican Party and his supporters are stupid enough to buy that, then they deserve to get kicked in the butt again, just like they did a few months ago, several times over, with losing key states, the House of Representatives and the Senate.

The simplest explanations are the best. Positing an hypothesis that Trump was played is obviously way too complicated. Whereas diagnosing Trump as "malignant narcissist" is obviously a much better fit for the facts.
